Cavaliers eye series sweep of Magic

Cleveland (36-26) at Orlando (20-40) 7:00 pm EST

ORLANDO, Florida (Ticker) -- On their second stop of a four-game road trip, the Cleveland Cavaliers can post a season series sweep of their second consecutive opponent when they face the Orlando Magic on Friday.

The Cavaliers earned a perfect mark against Toronto this season with a thrilling 98-97 victory Wednesday, thanks to a clutch performance of Damon Jones. The 6-3 guard buried the game-winning 3-pointer from the corner as time expired to push Cleveland's winning streak to four games.

LeBron James, who handed out his sixth assist to Jones, had 35 points to lead all scorers. Jones, who sat on the bench for much of the final period, scored just eight points and Ronald Murray finished with 14.

With a win on Friday, the Cavaliers can improve to 4-0 this season vs. the Magic and complete a sweep of another Eastern Conference opponent in a three-day span.

Orlando will try and make the visitors' task as difficult as possible since it yearns to stop a six-game slide.

The Magic suffered a 90-85 setback to Utah on Monday which capped an 0-5 trip. Orlando failed to take advantage of Utah's 12-point fourth quarter effort because of the hosts' stingy defense in the closing moments of the game.

Dwight Howard collected 18 points and 14 rebounds and DeShawn Stevenson and Carlos Arroyo had 14 points each.

In three meetings with the Magic, the Cavaliers' average margin of victory has been 13 points. Behind a 26-point contribution from James and 24 from Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Cleveland defeated Orlando, 105-92 on February 21 for the sixth straight time.

The Cavs are on a 4 game road trip, they really need this one with the next two against Miami and Dallas. The Cavs won the previous meeting 105 - 92.

Magic Franchiseless? Well keep Dwight Howard under 50 points and it's in the bank..

Just in case none of you heard, LeBron is listes as Quesionable for tonights game at the Magic. He has the flu. So I am wondering who will fill in for LeBron if he doesn't play? Pavlovic, Graham, Jones?

Darko clearly looks ready

I got this info from the Cavs message board. Just passing the news on.

Danger game. Orlando is struggling big time losing 18 from their last 20, but at home anything can happen. They have some guards who can really penetrate, and Howard who is just a monster. Darko is actually getting some burn with the Magic lately. The kid does have some skills.

Cavs should take this one with a Z taking a bigger role tonight!

if LeBron doesnt ply Brown better not start freakin Damon Jones.....Sasha should start with Flip getting HUGE mins and Z netting 30 points and grabbing 13 boards and Drew having a 16 and 12 night.....Flip would have to get over 20 pts also....hopefully LeBron just plays so we dont have to really worry about it

Take LeBron out of this game and you hand the favourtism to the Magic. I do see LeBron playing, but if not I guess we'll get a first hand look at what lineups work without James there. If he was to miss the game, it would be a great experience if we can sneak a win out.

Poor ole CBBI is going to the game. He would be devestated if LeBron missed this one.

That flu bug has been going around, only a matter of time before it takes out the rest of the team

Fast Facts

In three games against the Magic this season, Zydrunas Ilgauskas is averaging 22.0 points on .636 shooting (28-44), 9.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists. With a win tonight, the Cavs will sweep the season series against Orlando for the first time in franchise history. The team has a current winning streak of six straight games against the Magic including two in a row at the TD Waterhouse Center.

If LeBron is out we need Z to at least match his previous impressive outputs.

The warm Florida weather should cure LeBron in no time - the team will be down there this whole weekend....maybe a day off tomorrow to visit Mickey and Minnie. :chuckles:

lebron playing and scoring the first 2 points of the game.

Grant Hill certainly their goto guy at the moment. Gooden and snow getting that combination going again.

LeBron sweet pass to llgauskas. Cavs rolling early.

17-7 Cavs, timeout Orlando!
