Re: Current Record: 8-29. Where we stand thread... Lets embrace the suck.

I think if you have the worst record in the league. You are guaranteed a top 4 pick.

Or is it just a very high % chance to have top 4 pick? Like 90+%?

Not sure to be honest.

Re: Current Record: 8-29. Where we stand thread... Lets embrace the suck.

Even though this draft is being said to "suck" by the draft pundits and gurus all over the Internet, I feel like if we are guaransheed a top 4 pick...we can still do some severe damage.

top 3 picks are lottery picks. So, if you have the worst record, you are guaranteed to pick no worse than 4th.

Re: Current Record: 8-29. Where we stand thread... Lets embrace the suck.

I'm okay with the sucking. As long as they show effort every night like they did last night at Phoenix will be fine with me. I like watching the young guys play. I actually sat down and watched the entire 2nd hafl of the game last night when I got off work. Most cavs basketball I've watched alll year besides the opener and the Miami game.

here's to sucking and a top 5 pick. Just curious, if we do get the worst record are we guarenteed a top 5 pick?

The worst overall record is guaranteed a top 4 pick, I do believe.

Re: Current Record: 8-29. Where we stand thread... Lets embrace the suck.

The lottery process determines the first three picks of the draft. The rest of the first-round order of picks is in reverse order of the teams' win-loss record

Re: Current Record: 8-29. Where we stand thread... Lets embrace the suck.

The people that thought this team could be competitive believed that they while they would struggle on offense, they would play defense like they were taught to the last few years, which was obviously wrong. Since Byron Scott brought in his stand-and-watch defense, this team never had a chance. Not to mention they showed us that they are bitches.

Its hard to put together a good defense when your two veteran leaders (aka the guys that get the most playing time) are two of the worst defenders in the league. Seriously, we all knew Mo was a bad defensive player, but watching Jamison on D makes me want bang my head against the wall. Its not even that he's old and lacks the lateral quickness to stay in front of defenders; he's just soft. Flat out, marshmallow soft.

Now you're looking at a lineup that includes JJ Hickson (another notoriously bad defender) and two rookies? Good Lord... that may be the single worst defensive lineup in the history of basketball.

So to sum up, I don't care who is coaching this team, it will suck defensively. Tom Thibodeau could be coaching this team, and it would STILL suck defensively.

Re: Current Record: 8-29. Where we stand thread... Lets embrace the suck.

I can't imagine what it's like to play for the Cavs right now. The knowledge that you and your teammates don't have the depth to manage to win any games. The fact that of the last 22 games we have won one. The depression that goes along with that. That feeling of "I'm not quite good enough". The asking of the question, "what will it take for us to win"? Then, the final realization: "oh, fugg it. I'm just going to go out there and have a good time even if I have my ass handed to me."

As a fan of the Cavs, I was certainly hoping for a Cinderella ending. I guess that's not happening this year. I am fairly certain that other than an occasional bit of luck, we will likely not win another game this season.

Can we forfeit the rest of the season and just play in the D-League? :)

Re: Current Record: 8-29. Where we stand thread... Lets embrace the suck.

Kyrie Irving here we come. I don't care if we have the #1 pick and Perry Jones is there for the taking. Irving balled the f*ck out in the couple games he played at Duke and the Cavs haven't had an all star PG for a long time. Byron Scott breeds great PG's so it's almost a guarantee we draft Irving if he is there for the taking.

I love sucking when you have a talent like Irving right in your hands. I wonder if this is how it felt in 2002-2003.

Forgot to post: is anyone wondering how Dan Gilbert must be feeling, months after his famous Tweet about "winning a championship before the Heat"? This outcome must have been unexpected for him.

I was at the last game of the 2002-03 season vs. the Raptors to see Tierre Brown lighting it up for our Cavaliers. It was legendary battle as both teams attempted to lay down and lose by making up various injuries for their best players. No Ricky Davis for the Cavs. Of course no Vince Carter for the Raps. Just check out all the DNP reasons for Toronto:

Why am I bringing this up? Because I expect the 4/15 showdown at the Q vs. the Wizards to be just as glorious. We should add a third mascot this season. Can we call him Frank the Tank?

Rafer Alston put up big numbers that night. We should have known he would light us up in the Orlando series, even if it was the twilight of his career!

That box score is fascinating for so many reasons. The Lebron saga has taken my mind off the original Cavs Judas of the 2000s, Mr. Carlos Boozer. This flipped the anger switch back on. I am gonna pull for the team that knocks off the Heat first, but I will definitely cheer when the Bulls get knocked out and Boozer has to be taken out with an inner labia strain midway through the third. He is a mercenary if I have ever seen one.

If we finish dead last, our odds at the Top 4 picks are as follows.

1st - 25.0%
2nd - 21.5% (46.5% we pick Top 2)
3rd - 17.8% (64.3% we pick Top 3)
4th - 35.7% (100% we pick Top 4)

Bring on the ping pong balls, it's about time we won something!

Please know your facts.

It wasn't a "famous Tweet", it was an entire letter.

And IMO, it was more geared towards the Heat not winning one moreso than the Cavs winning one.

I really don't know how you can beat that awesome PG rotation of Milt Palacio, Tierre Brown, & Smush Parker! Fabulous!
