A loss last night may have sent the Cavs down a dark path … Mitchell out, Mobley getting hurt and a bad loss to a conference rival. Thank fucking god for Dean Wade because everyone is rightfully excited as hell. Hopefully this energy turns into some more undermanned wins.

NBA TNT TV crew gives props to Dean Wade. And a new nickname from Shaq.

NBA leader in defensive rating

21-6 when he plays more than 20 minutes

19-8 when attempting four or more 3P

13-4 when playing more than 20 min and attempting four or more 3P

Over the last week, or so, I said literally, that Dean Wade shooting and playing with the confidence of Niang and Okoro would force JB to play him more...

Dean got the message last night.

With the Mobley update, it’s go time for Drippy

Your time to shine Dean.

Don’t worry, the fanbase is SUPER patient and always understanding of any bad stretches in a quarter, game, or stretch of games!

Seriously though, excited to see what Dean can do with this extended look

When we hit the playoffs, we’ll have ten guys who have all played serious minutes for decent stretches of the season. Give lots of options, just a matter of whether those options can be implemented in a way that works or at the right time

I'm so happy to see DWade break out like this. I wanted him in the starting lineup (depending on matchups) from the start. Last year with the injury it put a serious damper on his stock, now it's higher than ever. It's all about confidence and attitude for this guy, he has the size, he's athletic enough, he clearly works hard, he has skills. I think having Niang around has been good for Dean, he needs as much of that confidence and assassin's mindset as he can get.

99%. There are times when a guy like Kerr can bench Klay and get a fat freaking extension but that’s rare. I think you would agree JBB isn’t in that category. So why is it his fault Dean isn’t getting minutes?

Also, JBB DID bench Drummond who had a $28 mil (expiring) contract but clearly Koby was on board with that.

I think a BIG reason why Niang is preferred to Wade is that Georges has 654 playoff minutes over 46 games and 8 series. Dean has 11 playoff minutes in two games. This team is short on playoff experience as it is. This is why I would also expect to see more of TT in the playoffs.

I know this is hugely frustrating because how does one get playoff experience minutes if having those minutes is a qualifying metric? It’s why it’s so tough for newbies to break into a lot of opportunities. All of a sudden you’re a few years in, the opportunities haven’t been open and now you’re a not-so-newbie.

But JBB and Koby’s asses are on the line and they want guys who have been there, done that coming off the bench.

Here’s the key for Dean (and Sam) - if that opportunity comes in the playoffs you need a big game. You may only get ten minutes, not twenty - make them count. Cool off a hot scorer, bang home a few threes, grab a couple of key rebounds. Dean’s time will come. He’s improved every year. One big playoff game can make such a difference.

Matthew Dellavedova played very little in the 2016 Finals and was not a major player in our playoff runs EXCEPT he had one immortal game where he cemented his place in the Valhalla of Cavalier players. 20 points in Game 3 and couldn’t interview after the game because he was rushed to the hospital. He too was an UDFA who many thought could never make it in the NBA. That performance got big bucks from the Bucks.

I‘m bumping this reply to @Comeback kid (where he said Dean wasn’t playing because of $$$$$) for the next to last paragraph. He got his ten minute opportunity last night - not in the playoffs, but a streaking Boston team on TNT is going to get noticed. Dean got his chance and destroyed the best team in the game - by some metrics one of the best teams in NBA history (so far). Players can write their narratives with their play.

Dean was on the headline page of BBC Sport today. Shit like he did last night gets noticed. Every GM in the game put his name in ink on their summer shopping list.

Really happy for Dean. He’s taken Niang‘s Give Zero Fucks attitude on shooting and it’s paid off. Crashed the boards like Moses last night to lead us to the promised land. Dude looked like the Youngest and Baddest Kelce bro out there. Triumph for that young man and the team that brought him on board and developed him.

Not only did he break out last night with a historic performance, he's now going to be the starting 4 during the stretch run.

This is his chance to run with an opportunity once again. Needs to stay healthy and play at the level we've seen all season in extended minutes on a nightly basis against other teams' best players. If he does that, he'll be a made man for the rest of his time in Cleveland, either as a starter or a marquis reserve.

I hope he's up for it; he seems like a great guy and I believe he plays the game to give his team the best chance to win every time he laces them up.

I look forward to seeing Wade in the starting lineup, with Okoro at the three spot. Defensively we should be pretty good with that group. Offensively it's a crap shoot but hopefully they find their rhythm and confidence. Okoro already has confidence, Wade needs to solidify and build off of last night so he becomes the best version of himself.

I didn't watch last night. The boxscore doesn't look great, though. Anyone with insight on what happened?

The Cavs thought they were a cat that could play with it’s food. The food played them.

The dope never got roped.

They were a one-legged man in an ass kicking contest.
