The weirdest thing about the Dean Wade injury is the vague way the team is handling it. JBB keeps stressing that it really is "day by day", that he may be available in the next day or two, but he might not, even though the team keeps preparing like Dean will miss the next game.

That's why a lot of people think there's something deeper going on with him or his family.

Just seems like people are jumping to conclusions based on literally zero information at all.

The assumption that people have made is that since 1) Dean had a baby and 2) he hasn’t played or posted pics on his social media of the baby, THEN something must be wrong with the baby or his family.

This sounds like the jealous significant other that thinks their spouse/BF/GF is cheating on them because their partner went to the bar with their friends and isn’t responding to texts every 10 minutes or posting pictures on social media with their friends. Their lack of evidence or response makes them assume the worst.

However, we have evidence of Wade constantly being injured going back to his HS days. The Cavs have him listed as being injured. Because of Wade’s history, him getting injured in a non-sports related accident wouldn’t really be a major shock.

Also, Philly got a $100,000 fine for listing Embiid’s availability incorrectly for a single game. If the Cavs were listing a player incorrectly on the injury report for almost two months, the league would probably drop the hammer on the Cavs to discourage others from doing it.

It’s not like missing time for personal reasons is some unprecedented thing in the NBA that the Cavs would need to disguise. Wiggins missed a bunch of time last year for personal reasons and the Warriors didn’t make up some injury to ‘provide cover.’ Jrue missed a lot of time when he was NO for personal reasons due to complications surrounding his wife and the birth of a child. Lowry missed a bunch of time. There have been many others.

Point is, speculating on his absence with no other information doesn’t seem wise.

You think the league would punish the Cavs for running cover for a critically ill newborn? I don't think so in 1M years

So you have inside information that Dean’s newborn is critically ill? If not, why even bring it up at this point?

And yes, I absolutely think they would. Just as they would’ve punished the Warriors if they said Andrew Wiggins injured his knee when he was actually in Canada with his critically ill father.

Also, explain how exactly they’d be ‘running cover’ when people have already come to the conclusion something is wrong with his baby or his family? Doesn’t seem to have worked, does it?

If it was listed as ‘personal reasons,’ we’d still have no idea what the personal reasons were beyond the conclusion people have come to with absolutely no information. I’m just failing to see the difference at this point.

The Wiggins case is an interestingone for you to bring up because everyone who said something was up was right.

Let me ask you this. Do you think the Cavs world balk at a paying 100k fine if they thought it would help Dean maintain his privacy? I don't think they would

Why is this an interesting one? Not sure the point you're making here. Wiggins was literally out for 'personal reasons'. You don't miss extended time for personal reasons because you bought a house, graduated from college, or your mom won the Powerball.

You keep equating the 100k number to being the same situation. That was for a single game. Do you really think it'd be only a 100k fine for lying about a players status for nearly two months? No, it wouldn't. It'd be a lot more and the league might decide to strip the Cavs of a pick.

Either way, it doesn't seem to be working considering the number of people on here speculating over what's going on despite Dean's very real and checkered injury history.

I've seen people use their social media posting as some type of evidence something is wrong. Out of curiosity, I looked at Dean and his wife's IG accounts. In the last year, they've made 11 total posts combined. One was a post that Dean shared from the Cavs account. One was a post that Dean shared from the KState B-Ball account. One was a paid ad. So, between the two of them, they made 8 actual posts on IG in one year, yet there's some concern about them not posting a piture with the baby or mom three weeks later? LOL. Even in the post where Dean is holding his baby, the baby's face is blocked out.

Dean is fine except for his knee. And his family is perfectly healthy and fine.

Thank, we needed that.

How did he hurt his knee? Was it bothering him before the baby?

Honestly the important thing is his wife and baby are healthy, but i am a sports fan and selfish so I also want him healthy so he can play, more importantly help defend. His defense is truly elite.

Sorry, but I can’t respond to that because some do not want me to post here. So I’m not going to respond for now except to reassure people that there’s no issues except for what you’ve heard from the organization.

The health of his family is all that really matters.

Hope his knee heals at some point in order for him to play in the playoffs, since he's worked hard all year and is a real chess piece for the team.

His skillset is useful anytime, but will very much be needed should the Cavs advance to play Boston in the second round.

On a better note. Apparently the best man speech from Dean's wedding has gone viral in the past few days. I don't do TikTok so I haven't seen it, but my child told me its over a million views and hilarious.
