If it is true that it is just "wear and tear" rather than a discrete injury, that's pretty depressing. He isn't old, and doesn't have nearly the miles on his knee either this season or in his career that he should have "wear and tear" sidelining him for this long.

His last game was March 8th. The Cavs already ruled him out for the entire Orlando series without even knowing how long the series will go. That means he’s out through at least the May 5th potential game 7 date.

Does being off 2+ months for wear and tear sound even remotely feasible?

Seriously, 2+ months!!???

Hope we can unload him before next season and get someone who is more available. I want to like him but we can't count on him. He has maybe a handful of decent performances per year, otherwise he's MIA most times.

Massive disagree. Dean was a huge reason we went 17-1. He played really well until he got hurt and his counting stats do not tell the entire story. He and Ice just choked opposing offenses.

It makes sense if he's got significant osteoarthritis. That fits right in the definition of "wear and tear". And that stuff doesn't ever really "get better". You can reduce the pain/inflammation for awhile, but the underlying problem remains, and will recur.

That's why I said it was depressing if wear and tear is the actual reason as opposed to a discrete injury.

I agree he played his ass off in that run. My favorite Dean Wade moment was the Deaner going crazy against the Celtics with my second grade son watching. When we watch the Cavs, he is still under the impression that Wade is the franchise guy instead of Donovan.

That said, I do believe Luke Travers is going to step into that role next season. He's five years younger and his defense is just exceptional. I don't know if he is going to shoot 39% from three, but he doesn't have all these nagging injuries.

Where did you hear he was ruled out for the entire series? If it ends in 4 games that info would certainly be correct since he’s not in Orlando.

Your son isn’t named Brian Windhorst is he? Windy was all in on the Cavs recent issues were because we missed Dean.

I‘m not ready to give up on Dean for the future just yet. I prefer to wait and see what real doctors say rather than internet doctors.

I’m even less ready to assume Luke Travers will be ready for a rotation spot next year. Cavaliers will need to bring him over, he’ll need to prove he can hang with NBA players, and we have an absolutely horrible track record with players named Luke. Last Luke we had with a blonde ‘stache was Luke Witte and he only made the 12 man roster because of his Ohio State connection. Asking a lot for the kid to come here and make our playoff rotation next season. I think he’s a longer term project.

I hate being a conspiracy theorist, but your not out 2 months for a acl sprain. Something is going on and I feel dark vibes.

Interesting. A new MRI. I think that’s #5.

Somewhat speculation on my part, but I wouldnt be surprised if he has a partially torn ACL or MCL and they’ve been waiting to see if it will re-attach on it’s own.

I say that as I have a fully torn ACL I’m waiting to have surgery on. Throughout the process, I learned a small tear in the ACL can fully heal in three months or less depending on the severity. If it’s completely torn, it won’t re-attach.

Given the time frame and an additional MRI, it at least seems like a plausible explanation.

Would a doctor have an ethical and legal obligation to tell a patient that if that were true??
