Deni Avdija Full "UNGUARDABLE" 2019/20 Highlights ● Welcome To Cleveland Cavaliers?!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It was an honest question because I don't know. So next question...is ball-handling really that important a skill for a 4?

I think this is an artificial cap on Deni. If he is only a 4, no he shouldn't be a top 5 pick. His position less approach to both sides of the court is the reason he is being discussed in the top 5.

I guarantee that Deni is going to be a better shooter than Nance. I don't see the similarity at all.
Deni will able to provide in any role he will be assigned to.

He will be much better with NBA spacing as far as cutting, penetrating and creating goes. His former team Maccabi is really struggling without him btw.

You think he can get by guys on the perimeter? I don't think he can.

Honest question here -- to what extent do people see Avidja as being sort of younger, better Nance Jr? 3-4 tweener with a shot that needs some work, smart floor game and passing, etc...

I think Deni and Nance are very differently built. Deni is built like a wing and moves more like a guard. Nance is built like a forward. I think Deni is more agile while Nance is more explosive. Deni would be consisted more of a natural SG or SF in a more traditional era of basketball. His size just allows him to play PF in today's game. He probably will play from SG, SF, to PF. If his handles get better he could play some PG in big lineups.

I think he is a better version of Cedi. I think Deni is built better for the SF/PF role than Cedi is. Cedi bulked up too much and lost some of the quickness he had when they started to ask him to play some PF. Deni would allow Cedi to move back down to playing SG/SF, most likely in a backup role.

Joe Ingles part 2.

I think this was meant to be a shot at Avdija, but Joe Engles would be our second best small forward since Dan Gilbert became owner.

With all these possible top ten prospects, the worry is what they can't do yet at age 19. The toughest part of this draft is the long wait between when they last played a game for the public and what they can do now.

I haven't seen Okoro play for over six months. Is his jump shot no longer an issue? No way for me to know. Is Okongwu able to do anything facing the basket? No clue, nobody has any clue what other players have added.

I do see a lot of players in the NBA who had similar strengths and weaknesses at age 19 that Deni have who went on to make a big impact on the court. A well built 6'9 two way player who already plays a perimeter game yet isn't afraid of contact can do a lot of damage in the NBA.

In which ways is Deni much better than Casspi? Better playmaker? Better movement off the ball? If he is 15% better than Casspi is that good enough?

Cassi is a bitch and has a shitty attitude. Not a winner and soft.

Was never a passer or a ball handler other than attacking off the dribble @ spot up.

Casspi was hyped due to his ability in transition... just like your man. It's one of the overrated aspect of the NBA. It can be fun at times, but in the playoffs it does not matter unfortunately.

We will see.

Obviously Casspi was hyped because the Jews control the media,

I am a little worried that the "Best Israeli player ever" is only marginally better than assfingers the best Israeli player ever. There is some media hype going on here, and Doncic is partially responsible. I think if Doncic didn't exist, we would not be talking Deni in the top 5.

Again, I know I mentioned this in the thread before but I'm alarmed when every Euroleague prospect is immediately compared to one or two Euro guys who played for the Cavs. They are all unique. Cedi was drafted at the top of the second round as a stash prospect who showed physical tools in the Euroleague at about 20 minutes a game as a teen. Avdija isn't being mentioned as a second rounder who needs to stay in Europe two more years. Scouts universally see a huge gap in preparation and upside.

Amen. That's not a comment on Avidja at all - just agreement that transition points are much more rare in the playoffs.

One reason Cedi wasn't drafted very highly was he was considered a hustle defender that shot poorly from the free throw line. Those same things are in play for Deni, except he isn't actually known for his defense and is actually a worse shooter.

Let's compare their stats at 19-20 age in Euroleague per 36 to be fair

Cedi 12.4 pts 66% Ft 4.6 3PTA 30.3 3PT% 6.8 Total reb 2 AST 1.3STL .6 Blocks 1.6TOV 4.4PF
Deni 10.2 pts 55% Ft 4.6 3PTA 27.7 3PT% 6.6 Total reb 2.9 Ast 1 STL .6 Blocks 1.8 TOV 5PF

The thing Deni is prob much better at is finishing his 2pt % is .596 vs .471 for Cedi which is not insignificant.

Still, how can you look at that stat line and think Deni is a lottery pick and Cedi is a 2nd rounder. I think the answer is both should have been in the 15-20 range

Osman's stats say he is the better athlete with same block as a guy bigger than him and better rebounding and steals. Deni is projected to be a better shooter? Why? The stats don't back that at all.

I think you are right about Euro comparisons, but not appropriately like comparing to Cedi. Somehow Deni got a huge lift from Doncic, and his huge popularity in Israel. His stats don't tell the story, basically at all for him to be a lottery pick. You have to take his stats on worse competition and say the eye test is good enough.

This guy isn't good enough for top 3, and he may not be good enough for top 10.

When you break it down that .9 additional assists per 36 and his better 2p% is what makes Deni the better prospect even though athleticism indicators are worse.

I don't think it's impossible we have the more athletic version of this guy on the roster already, and he has learned to shoot! The other thing is that Cedi is NOT getting the playmaking/ballhandling opportunities he would like on our team as constructed. How is that going to work out for Deni? Is he going to be a better spot up shooter who only gets transition ballhandling opportunities?

I really like Cedi, but I am not deluded that he is probably a backup wing in this league that can provide some playmaking and spot up. His younger self probably has a similar trajectory, but good money says he is probably going to be a worse shooter. He's not even a little worse than Osman at the line he is more than 10 points worse.
