A four year college player is more or less a finished product, and Valentine's NCAA career had plenty of red flags the Bulls apparently missed.

He was the definition of meh his first three years and looked like he was headed to Europe or China. Then, out of the blue, he had a great senior season and everyone went crazy.

You should never put too much weight on senior years, particularly if that's your first eye-popping season. If you're a high usage senior, it's almost an unfair advantage, playing against teenagers.
