Denzel Ward

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That was a big play to me. If you watch the big Barkley run that started the game, Ward had him contained to the outside. Barkley cut back and left Ward grasping at air. I'm pretty sure this was Ward's second shot at Barkley and he was more aggressive.
It looked to me like both he & Kirksey slipped (they were basically right next to eachother).

Well, they slipped because Barkley made one heck of a cut. It was really Damerious Randall's tackle to make but again, Barkley made a high speed cut that not everyone is going to make. The Browns defense learned to approach him a little differently after that run. It doesn't make Ward a bad tackler or anything. I meant the post as a compliment that he adjusted so well the next drive.

Oh I know. I was just making an observation.

And yeah, Randall took an AWFUL angle there. That play should haven't gone more than 10 yards at the most.

I agree for the most part, but I'll add on a little defense of Randall:

1. That cut from Barkley is very unorthodox from a player his size. He takes a step angling away from the line of scrimmage first. This shifts the defenders body weight slightly to the left. His next cut is at a sharp angle towards the middle of the field, more than 90° and an angle that someday could blow out a knee. This move forces everyone off balance and in a split second makes Randall's angle look really bad. Gotta give credit to Barkley on it.

2. Now Randall is up shit creek because he let a back who runs a 4.4 blow past him. Randall doubles back and using his 4.46 speed, closes in and takes Barkley down from behind. I didn't see many backs catch Barkley once he cleared the safety in college, but Randall made up for the mistake. I think Barkley underestimated the speed of his opposition chasing him down.

If anyone plays in IDP fantasy leagues, this is a guy I'd avoid in dynasty. Not because he won't be good, but because if he turns into an elite DB like Ramsey he's not going to put up fantasy stats because shutdown corners don't get the ball thrown their way much.

Zeitler is great news as well as Ward. Good shit.
