Starting a new thread for the off-field matters with a reminder of the expectations.

The below message from v1 still applies, but based on the trajectory of the tone in v1, the underlined bullet point has been added. Take note; posts that violate these rules will be deleted immediately and posters will be addressed.

This will serve as the non-football related Deshaun Watson thread.

Take note as @chrisrich91 will rigorously enforce the rules in this thread:

DO NOT use this thread to attack other posters.

DO NOT attempt to police Browns fandom.

DO NOT accuse other posters of _______ because they do not agree with you.

DO NOT come in to the thread to call people names, troll or otherwise drive-by post.

Be respectful and sensitive to the issue of sexual misconduct and/or assault. Jokes undermining or desensitizing the severity of the topic will be deleted on sight.

It would be the most Browns thing ever for Deshaun to get suspended for multiple seasons, so that is what I'm fully expecting to happen.

There is no scenario where Deshaun Watson is being suspended for multiple seasons.

Just like there was zero chance Baker Mayfield was going to get let back into the building.

Nonsensical positions which speak to the level of how far people will go to be heard.

Maybe you're right, but it doesn't hurt to mentally prepare for the worst case outcome. Especially when the Browns are involved.

right. If something happens in which Watson is getting suspended multiple seasons, then its WAY outside the current 24 women that have come forward.

edit: I will say I think there is a world where Watson is put on the commissioners list and then gets a suspension, but I cant imagine those 2 things combine turn into 2 years.

Let’s see where people stand on this issue cause it’s not clear yet….

Every.Single.Day
I just want to know where I stand with my privacy settings. Are they up to snuff? Can anyone confirm?

:chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Don't they basically have to let Baker back into the building later in the offseason?

I don't have to mentally prepare for anything. Regardless of the outcome of this situation, I will watch the games. They'll win or they'll lose. I'll be back on my couch the following Sunday. Wash, rinse, repeat.
Same. For as much as I complain about this team for various reasons, I’ll be watching on Sunday.

This is also why the NFL is ever likely to issue any meaningful long-term suspensions to talented players. What are you going to do? Not watch? Didn't think so.

The advertisers want the best players on the field and the league knows that the fans, much though they might piss and moan when they don't like something the NFL does, are still tuning in Sunday. And Thursday. And Monday.

At this point I'm just hoping he's only suspended for a minimum of 6 games. It seems like a full season suspension is inevitable.

Watson will surely bring in viewers who typically don’t watch the Browns.

I'll be watching the Browns, simply for the chaos. To see how this plays out.
As I've disclosed before, I am an Eagles fan. If you remember, Michael Vick was our QB for a good while.
Vick actually served a jail sentence. There was a lot of pushback about him returning to the NFL.
Though the broadcast never really talked about it much, media and everyone else was up Vick's (and the Eagles') ass.
Vick worked hard to rehabilitate himself, and for the most part, only the pettiest of people mention his jailtime.
He's had a documentary about his life and everything aired on ESPN.
I remember fighting fellow Eagle fans about him the most. After a while it was just about football shit. The same kind of crap I'm hearing about Hurts today.
Still bought the Vick jersey. I wore it to work the day after the Eagles beat those damn Cheatriots.
Biggest irony was Foles. I thought he was Fool's Gold, despite the record breaking performances. Ended up putting on one of the best Super Bowl performances ever. Still hasn't ever started for a team for long since the Eagles.

Now this situation doesn't quite compare to that, as DW likely won't be going to jail. But he's going to be eating shit (some might say justifably) for a long time depending on how he (and the Browns respond). The Browns will get a shit ton of criticism (again, some might say justifiably).

In the end, this is status quo for the Browns. They're always going to get pooped on for something.
I thought that maybe that they couldn't deal with the sure-to-be-shit storm that would follow such a trade (I was on record for Baker getting a "prove it" season and for the Browns to pick a QB in the 2nd round before this). A team with more fortitude would be able to handle the mess.

Now, I think the Browns might be uniquely equipped. This is an unenviable situation for any fan. But the Browns and their fans will survive. We'll all be watching on Sunday. I still want to see them poop on their rivals in the AFC North. Just sucks that this time, it won't be as "pure" as it might have been had Baker panned out.
