Early 22 GM Thread! (Trade Ideas here)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Here's another one I'll run up the flagpole.
Padres are desperate to dump Will Myers.
We can pay his salary. But there's a price.
So how about Myers and Robert Hassell
for
Karinckek and Kwan.
That works on BTV.
Hassell and Valera can play the G's OF for years together.

You want action then I'll give it to you. I'm ready to reboot and load this SOB with ready talent.
1. JRam to the Mets for Baty, Vientos, Allan, and Megill
2. Plesac to the Cardinals for Herrera, McGreevey, and Thompson
3. Rosario to the Angels for Adell
4. Quantrill, JNay, BNay to the Padres for Campusano and Paddack
5. Bieber to the Rays for Baz, Lowe, and Mead
6. Reyes and Straw to the Marlins for S. Sanchez and Bleday
7. Civale to the Dodgers for Miller

Dust settles and this is the depth chart:
C- Campusano, Herrera, Lavastida, Fry, Maile
1B- Vientos, Bradley, Jones, Noel
2B- Miller, Rocchio, Tena, Gimenez, Freeman
3B- Baty, Jones, Vientos, Arias, Mead
SS- Arias, Gimenez, Rocchio, Tena
OF- Adell, Lowe, Bleday, Vientos, Jones, Kwan, Palacios, OGon
SP- Baz, Sanchez, McKenzie, Paddack, Megill, Miller, Thompson, Morris, Battenfield, Pilkington, Myers, Espino, Allan, McGreevey, LT Allen, Curry
DH- Bleday, OGon, Vientos, Jones
BP- Clase, Karinchak, Gose, Sandlin, Hentges, Stephan, Garza, Allen, Morgan, Vargas

You want to compete for a WS as early as 24 then here ya go. Prospects fail, but there is enough of them here(all currently in the upper levels) to insulate against that. All these deals were verified at BTV just like a GM would do. lol

Well, if they're not going to resign JRam and Bieber. they may as well blow it up./

I'd take it a step further and suggest that if they aren't going to put some guys around JRam then I'd blow it up.

A lot of moving parts... not much of a mets fan, though..

I'll post a blockbuster trade here we can make for Toronto. I think I'd pull the lever on this trade although maybe others would have a different opinion.

Guardians get (BTV: 114.5) Alek Manoah (SP), Alejandro Kirk (C/DH), Jordan Groshans (3B/SS), Otto Lopez (OF/2B), CJ Van Eyk (P)

Blue Jays get (BTV:115.3) Jose Ramirez (3B/2B), Zach Plesac (SP), James Karinchak (RP)

Net result is...

Guardians get a controllable SP (free agent in 2028) who might legitimately have #2 upside to become a #1/#2 punch with Bieber at least while Bieber is still around, and upgrade from Plesac.

Guardians get a controllable hitter (free agent in 2027) who can at least be slotted in at C and split the time with Hedges in the short term, and might take Reyes's place at DH long term. Works as insurance for Lavastida / Naylor as well.

With Groshans, the Guardians get potentially a long term solution at 3B to replace Jose. He finished the season at AA but he actually seems to fit the 3B profile and should arrive in the majors around 2023.

With Otto Lopez the Guardians get more of an Amed Rosario style player who is a RH bat that can play all 3 OF positions, and also fill in at 2B if needed. If we trade Amed midseason he would be a nice option to have.

With Van Eyk, the Guardians get another pitcher with striikeout stuff that potentially can be run through the pitching factory. A complete flier but who knows what we can get out of him.

I will not take Kirk back in the deal for JRam... Jansen or McGuire I can deal with, but Kirk I am not willing to touch.

I'm not interested in McGuire either since we have Maile. They're basically identical players. It's Moreno or Jansen in a deal with the Blue Jays if JRam is being dealt. Otherwise they can pack sand.

I know I'm more open to Kirk than most here but I specifically made Manoah and Kirk part of that trade because those are the names I've specifically seen brought up. Toronto seems unwilling to budge on Moreno and I think they'd also rather deal their other young catcher partly because Jansen has experience working with their pitchers.

I'd take Jansen in a heartbeat but I just don't think he's nearly as available. I think you could get Kirk and Otto Lopez or Van Eyk (possibly even both) for the price of Jansen, and you get 2 years more control and a RH OF or upside P option...

We're all entitled to our opinions, but they are idiots if they deal for Kirk unless he's shed 40-50 lbs and has all of a sudden become a decent defensive C. Otherwise dealing JRam to Toronto with that lardass as part of the return should get somebody fired.

The team the Guards played today.. offer the best group of players/prospects that can fill the needs of the Guardians starting today and moving into the 2023/2025 window..

imho..

Parameters of a deal are the first steps...

example:

Guardians: willing to trade Jose Ramirez.. would want Vlad Jr on the table as part of the deal..
Jays.. decline.. the end.. It's unreasonable for the Jays to include this particular current rostered player in this deal.

So...

Guardians willing to trade Jose Ramirez.. would want to include some of / not all of: Gabriel Moreno, Jordan Groshans, Lourdes Gurriel Jr.. Otto Lopez.. Kevin Smith and Adam Kloffenstein

Guardians would want to add Brad Zimmer as a roster clearing player as part of the deal..

The Jays would counter.. try to exclude Moreno.. which would END the deal.. imho..

The beginning parameters of the deal could begin with Gabriel Moreno and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (plus one or more players/prospects) for Jose Ramirez and Zimmer.

Details could follow.. or not.. Perhaps NO DEAL... Jose plays in Cleveland for the start of the 2022 season.. just like Tito said?.. we'll see...

@CBBI as well

Vlad Jr is worth more than JRam and Kevin Smith is an Oakland...

But essentially the deal for JRam would likely be...

1 pre-arb MLB player/an MLB player with 3 or more years of control.. 2-3 of near MLB prospects in their top 10 prospect list and 1-2 of their 10-15 prospect...

So if we were going with Toronto, it would be one of two deals...

OF Guirrel Jr, 3B Groshans, UTIL Otto Lopez, LHP Ricky Tiedemann and C Luis Meza

Or

C Moreno, 3B Groshans, LHP Tiedemann, C Luis Meza and RHP Chad Dallas

Something close to that, second doesn't exactly fit what I said, but Groshans will be in the deal, and either Guirrel with better prospects or Moreno with lower prospects.
