Nothing Special, just talks about Edwards wanting to go back to having fun. He talks about the success the Cavs had last year by having fun. He might have it a little mixed up though. we weren't all about fun, we were all about winning, we just had fun while doing it. Plus, it's alot easier to have fun when you are on your way to a 66 win season, instead of a 4-12 one.
But, I am surprisingly optimistic about this year. I like the way Mangini is doing things(so far, the season hasn't even started yet so who knows), but we've needed a hard-nosed coach for some time.
With a loud cheer from the huddle at the end of practice Wednesday, the 2009 Browns Training Camp officially reached its conclusion.

While some spent training camp battling for playing time and others were trying to make improvements from last season, Browns wide receiver Braylon Edwards had one simple goal: recapturing his love of the game.

"(I was) just trying to have fun, get back to what football is ultimately about from your childhood and what we still believe it's about," said Edwards. "We've had fun and now it's over with. Now, it gets serious, but at the same time, that doesn't mean the fun has to go away from it. That's the message I'm going to keep harping on. If you're having fun, then you win games. Just look at the Cavs last year. The Cavs were all about fun and they had one of the best records ever.
"I feel like I've gotten a lot accomplished," he added. "I've come out here, practiced hard, given my all. (I've) tried to help the young guys out as well as try to help myself out and get better. I've had fun when I was supposed to have fun."

In addition to having fun during training camp, the Browns focused on becoming a more disciplined team.

Head Coach Eric Mangini ran a physical camp, with players in full pads almost every day. If the players fumbled the football or committed penalties, they ran laps around the field. After a mistake-filled series early in camp, Mangini sent off the entire offensive unit for a lap.

Now that camp is over, the players feel Mangini has prepared them for the challenges that lie ahead, including the final two preseason games as well as the regular season opener on September 13th against the Vikings.

"We're just ready to play football," Edwards said. "We've accepted that this is a new opportunity for ourselves as players, as teammates, as players coached by this new coaching staff.

"Second of all, we realize that this is another chance for the Browns to resurrect themselves," he concluded. "With that said, we're just going to come out and give it our all under this new system and we're going to go out there every day with those values, those characteristics that he's instilled in us."

MANGINI SHOWS APPRECIATION

After breaking down the huddle at the end of practice, the Browns players headed over to the fans and signed autographs for those still in attendance. Though the players signed autographs every day after the practice sessions, it was one final thank you from the team to the fans for their support.

During those stretches when the Browns struggled to pick up adjustments and play mistake-free football, the fans could still be heard encouraging the team, with a "Here we go, Brownies" chant or the simple dog bark.

"It's always great to have the fans here during training camp," Mangini said. "There are some days wheretheyget a little bit long and you get a little bit tired. To build from their energy and to meet some of them that I was able to meet and some of the players were able to meet, it's such a positive aspect of training camp."

Edwards can have all the fun he wants to have as long as he catches the ball. :)

I'm also optimistic for this season. (Disclaimer: As long as Quinn is the QB :chuckles: )

Worry about catching the goddamn ball and living up to your potential Braylon. Make that your new favorite.

I don't understand how he drops some of them. He goes from one season where it seemed like he caught everything within a 10 ft radius, to having the ball hit him in both hands and bouncing off. It's almost like he's been hit hard a few times and it scared him, and he's too worried about bracing for the hit, then securing the ball.

Well, Welcome to the NFL, Braylon

I'm with you too Doug, we know what Anderson can give us, it's now or never for Quinn.
It's not fair to him, or the fans not to start him.

Something tells me that Mangini does not want to have "fun". I'm not sure if it's what Edwards says, or how he says it. No matter what he says though, it rubs me the wrong way. I'm sick of him talking. I just want him to do his damn job and shut up. I mean, that's the big plan? Have fun?

He's had fun, it's time to be serious, but let's have fun?

How does that make any sense? Fun wins games? I just don't understand. He's had fun dropping balls and losing games? Recapturing his love for the game? Meaning he wasn't giving 100% before? He was getting paid 100%.... I'm not buying that his head is in the game.

I'd really like him to catch a hundred balls and bury me for having a poor opinion of him. I just don't get the feeling the he understands what it takes to be a #1. I don't care how hard he works, if hes a mental midget, he can't be our go to guy.

I like the optimism.... But why can't he just say, "No matter what, I'm going to bust my ass and make sure we win."?

Having fun does not win games, having talent does.........and LeBron James doesn't hurt.;)

Edit: bold part in OP.

Funny thing is, Braylon could leave right now and I don't think many Browns fans would care..

I think I know why it rubs you the wrong way...it does it to me too. I think it's because he's sounds like he's whining all of the time. If I were Braylon, and led the league in dropped passes while at the same time having a mediocre year...I'd just sut up and play. Instead he keeps running his mouth and I think it puts a lot more pressure on him than it their should be. People don't even realize that two of the biggest up and coming receivers in the league Dwayne Bowe and Calvin Johnson finished in the top 5 in drops... You know why??? They shut up and play. Braylon needs to start doing the same!!!

I wouldn't. Let's package him and DA for Marshall.

Marshall is fucking crazy and not the type of guy Mangini would want on this team. With a guy like Marshall we could end up back at square one with a headcase like Braylon.

All of you tampons who don't think BE can catch obviously don't remember this:

So, all we need is someone working the broadcasts to digitally alter the footballs so it appears that he's catching it each play? I think Browns fans would dig that, as long as we're pretending we're winning, we're still winning, aren't we?

Atleast this was real, it was in the preseason, but still one of the better catches I have seen.

This is the BE we need this year!

What makes that kinda funny is just how awful DA's throw was in that video.

Not to mention it was a preseason game and in the grand scheme of things meant virtually nothing at all ...
