@The Oi and @RchfldCavRaised jump in the studio to celebrate the end of the regular season and the anticipation of the playoffs starting this weekend while discussing:
  • Guardians are taking care of business to start the season
  • Rch has a movie and record recommendation that will have you "dreaming" while "on your own way"
  • Blowback from the Hornets game ending
  • Play-In game results
  • The most memorable "Oafs" in NBA history
  • Deep dive on first round series with Orlando
  • Jig gets a record recommendation from his daughter that will take you back to the turn of the century

Outstanding!

Now both formats on video!

I wanted to get all the way through the pod before commenting.

First of all, I appreciate the Rumors rec. My wife and I saw a Fleetwood Mac cover band a few months back called "Fleetwood Macrame" - covered all the hits. It inspired my Strus status pun. I'm starting "Daisy Jones and the 6" once my wife gets back in town.

I agree that the Cabs have to push pace, especially at home. Did they though? I think this matchup so far has been very similar to the New York series, Cavs going ice cold for stretches from the outside and committing dumb turnovers. The difference is that Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley have come to play. I hope it continues on the road.

As always it's a great listen... even the WNBA chatter was tolerable.

Daisy Jones and the 6 is Rockstar meets Almost Famous. You and Mrs Keys will love it.

Listened to Eagles Hotel California album in in entirety while working today. Been on a 70's rock kick since finishing the show.

Aw man, the beauty of 70s albums is the concept that nothing else would be going on but that album spinning on your hi fi. Music is background now, not that I hate the modern world. It's just a clip of a beat or a phrase repeating.

The 70s albums would be your focus for between 20-60 minutes, no visual accompaniment. They would tell a story. If you listened to funky acid trips from George Clinton, a sarcastic rant from Randy Newman or Warren Zevon, straight up Sci Fi from Devo, or a face-melting musical journey from Television. That will never happen again.

If you never gave Supertramp: Breakfast in America a spin, enjoy a heaping slice of 70s that's underplayed.

Anyways, my wife is going to be on some work trips the next two weeks and I am watching more playoff basketball than I could ever get away with in two decades. Good time to be an abandoned husband with two boys!

One of my clients just asked if I could come down to a facility in a suburb of Orlando before weeks end.

I flippantly said “sure if you guys got me tickets to see my Cavs Thursday night”.

He just said he would confirm in the morning.

And just like that, @The Oi and @Sebastian are going to have to forgive me for backing out of a potential RRJ postgame show on Thursday

Haven’t been to a Cavs playoff game since before LeBron

Guess I’ll be queing up this Supertramp recommendation for a playoff road trip flight

Nice.

You guys want to hear a cool story…

So I land at the exact same time as a flight from Boston and just so happened to be waiting for my Lyft at the same time as THIS guy…

I told him I was a Cavs enthusiast here to avenge 09 and he laughed and we started talking for a good 20 mins while both of our ride shares were super delayed

We talked 09 series, Van Gundy brother schtick, JBB and Mosley coaching trajectories (Stan has known both more than 20 years), Miami upsetting Boston last night, and of course.. we talked Real Cavs Fans message board melting down back in 2009 and what all played into that series

I gave him one of my business cards and told him we would be honored if he ever found 15-20 mins to talk like a basketball junky with a fellow coach and he told me to get a pic and share it with my message board “if I’m into that kinda thing”

Really good guy

His brother is my spirit animal, if you’re into that kind of thing.

Said he never moved from his time in Orlando and he himself is a season ticket holder for the first time this year because he loves watching Mosley install from the ground up… if they would JUST get him shooting. Also says it was a big miscalculation on his part to go with Isaac over WCJ despite what the advanced numbers say. You can’t measure heart and toughness and Mosley should have leaned into WCJ and Mo Wag and possibly even played Isaac at 2 if it were his call.

Loves Cavs and says this style of play COULD give them a shot against Boston because they struggle most in half court, grind out offense decision making, so JBB should stay the course in this style so we have it established for next round

That’s beyond cool. He’s an excellent commentator.

Look at you doppelgangers: similar glasses, headphones, zippered jackets, staches (if you shave the bottom half), smiles - all of it. VanGundy just needs to lay out in that Orlando sun to darken his complexion, and voila, twins.
