Fallout: 76

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
For a really bad game that is nothing at all like KOTOR.

I've played TOR quite extensively. I've played and beat KOTOR 1 & 2 every possible way imaginable. There isn't anything about either game that I'm not familiar with... TOR is a joke by comparison. It's not even close.

When people heard TOR was coming out, I remember being so fucking hyped.. like wow.. They're about to get Star Wars Galaxies right .. it'll be KOTOR but multiplayer.. OMG..

Then we got TOR.

Might be the most disappointing let down in all of videogames.

Yeah... I mean, ESO is a decent game if you like ESO -- but it's nothing at all like Skyrim. It's not really anything like any of the modern Elder Scrolls games (Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim) etc.. It's much much more like World of Warcraft -- so there's a confluence of players who like MMORPGs in that style who come into Elder Scrolls and would think "oh, this is a more casual kind of WoW.. cool." But for those of us from TES, the game is totally unplayable...

I guess if you're not super familiar with the games it's hard to really point out the difference -- but, there's no way you could go from Skyrim to ESO and feel like it was a similar experience. It's not .. not remotely.
The combat is a combination of elder scrolls mixed with an mmo. It has a skill bar like you do with an mmo, but you have a weapon you left click to swing.

As for swtor, bioware has kind of just gone downhill. So perhaps it’s just their inability to produce anything that resembles their classic work rather than not being able to possibly make a good online coop rpg.

-Still sounds like there are no human NPCs, and any NPCs will be robots

-Every character you see will be another real person

Yep, that's what I thought..

If this is true, count me out until I see some gameplay or read some reviews...

-Private world will be a thing, but probably not until after launch

Lol...

The private servers will probably allow mods. I think everybody should be on wait and mode, but I’m intrigued by this game. We already have three fallout games that were released in a ten year period that are very good and what people wanted. I have no problem with them taking a risk.

I dont think this is the death of traditional fallout 3 +.

Ty, have you played Skyrim and ESO? They are not remotely similar games. It's like comparing Far Cry to World of Warcraft.

A MMORPG that plays and feels like a single-player RPG like KOTOR has not been done before. Not that people haven't attempted it, but it's never made it to a wide-release Triple-A format AFAIK. It's a technically difficult thing to pull off, and would require certain real-time dynamics that are just difficult to implement from a programming standpoint.

It can be done, but no one has done it successfully AFAIK.

I don't think this is the death of Fallout -- it just seems like a money-grab.

But keep in mind, TOR was the death of KOTOR .... The casual MMO gamers always outnumber the hardcore single-player RPG gamers, at least dollar-wise they do.

I haven’t played eso, but I’ve seen it played.

MMOs cost a ton of money to make. It’s not a good investment for the time being unless you have an established game that currently profits.

The best we will get is these survival type games, and coop action rpgs.

A fully coop Skyrim or fallout could be great, but the issues is the mods. If someone has a totally modded game I doubt a friend could drop into your game without the same mods.

It would be a nightmare to get working on coop.

Believe me the mods are not the issue... It's actually pulling off a fully coop/multiplayer Skyrim. Mods wouldn't be a deal-breaker for anyone.

What happens if you try and join a game where a guy has modded new races into the game? Or his character is a new race?

So apparently you can pre order from amazon and get beta access. You can always cancel before launch if you hate it

Mods would simply be disabled for online play.

When does beta access open up?

I think sea of thieves has what makes the pvp survival arenas fun without al it of the tedious stuff. You’re fighting players for resources in an open arena if you will.

But the fact that it has no survival stuff is what makes it not a survival game. It's a first-person multi-player action game. There are no persistent elements outside of cosmetics.

Saying Sea of Thieves is a survival game without survival elements is like saying Doom is an FPS/RPG without the RPG elements. At that point, it's just a fucking shooter.

I thought it looked pretty fun.

I don't have a lot of friends to play games with though, so these games that are kind of.... forcing co-op/multiplayer (like Anthem, Battlefield V with their squads, Fallout 76, etc) kind of annoy me.

But let's be real we all just want Elder Scrolls 6.
