Watched parts of the game against the Kings.
We ran some pretty basic stuff for Kyle. Like college level plays, and they worked beautifuly. First, because we have very talented players to execute the plays, and second because Sac's defensive IQ is ABYSMAL. Their communication on defense is a complete joke. Simple PnRs throw their D into chaos. But I guess this is a good practice.
He uses screens VERY efficiently and creates a lot of separation. Also rarely just stands and watches, and looks to always make plays. A thing that we miss dearly sometimes.
You can see that when Frye got trapped in the corner and it seemed like a turnover, but Korver called for LeBron and screened for him off ball, freeing Bron to recieve the bailout pass for the dunk.

I like what I saw, and am more optimistic. But just a bit. I still think there are many problems with playing Korver big minutes. We'll see them against better teams, I reckon.
But again, hope I'm wrong.

I will say, and I'm being serious here, we did lose one thing in this trade. We lost the inevitable dirty Mike Dunleavy play in the middle of the playoffs that Refs almost assuredly won't see, but will see the guy retaliating against him.

Imagine the bench squad with korver and jr running through screens with lbj running the point.. Lbj/jr/korver/rj/frye.. These seniors would run up the young bloods..

I think he has low testosterone, he has a patchy beard and some other low T characteristics. I would recommend a full LBJ protocol for Kyle in order to prepare himself best for the playoffs. http://www.nba.com/cavaliers/video
Good interview, I think he is going to be one of my favourites players regardless of how he plays.

His movement on offense is beautiful. I can see him forcing the others to move the ball more simply due to his movement, which would definitely help us in times when we fall into a lull. And just adds a wrinkle for the defense to worry about on top of LeBron and Kyrie.

Wasn't able to watch. How was his defense?

Really Good.. it was against the Kings though..

I never was nearly as worried about his defense as many are.. He is a really good Team defender.

I dont think he will be a liability on defense especially he will play most of his minutes with Lebron and one or two of JR,Shump or Liggins who if he has trouble can help.
He is a good enough Team defender to not be a negative defender. Now of course he is no stopper.. but he wont be horrible

As a defense first guy I share your concerns but let's not go overboard with the pessimism. Warriors aren't a team full of uber atheltic players, it's the quality of their plays that get their players separation from defenders. Guarding them doesn't require super athletes but rather moderate to high IQ defenders who can read system plays as they unfold instead of switching off on backdoor cuts or getting lost on screens. We need Korver to defend smart and he won't be badly exploited maybe except against Durant who is another concern on its own
