Cavaliers notes: James is best in November
By Bob Finnan

LeBronJames has to be the best player in the league in November.

For the fourth time in his seven-year career, he's won the Eastern Conference Player of the Month award for the month.

He averaged 29.2 points, 6.7 rebounds and 8.0 assists in the 17 games in October and November. He shot 52 percent from the field.

James led the Cavs to a 12-5 record.

"The offseason training I put myself through (is the key)," he said. "I don't use training camp to get in shape. I come into the (camp) ready for the season."

It's the 12th time in his career he's won the Player of the Month award.

James' buddy, Nuggets forward CarmeloAnthony, was named the Western Conference Player of the Month.

Moon rising

Forward JamarioMoon has become a fixture in the Cavs' rotation. In his previous four games, he's averaged 10 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 25 minutes off the bench. He's also shooting 58 percent from the field in that span (15 of 26).

"He's doing a nice job for us," Cavs coach MikeBrown said.

Brown hopes that Moon doesn't shoot more 3-pointers (36) than 2-pointers (43).

He loves the way Moon defends, even though there are times big power forwards give him trouble.

"He and (AnthonyParker) have done a tremendous job of picking up our defensive principles," Brown said. "Now they have to continue learning and become more physical."

Brown was a fan of Moon's from a distance.

"You like a guy from afar, but you don't know what a guy's like until you get him," Brown said. "He shoots the basketball better than we thought. He's solid. If he's open, he's going to knock down the shot."

Brown said there have been only a few players he hasn't been able to guard.

"We haven't tested the gamut yet," he said. "There are bigger more physical guys he'll be guarding. At times, he struggled a bit guarding those guys."
