Wally's chances of being traded are up to 60%, while it says we are one of the teams interested in Marion. Other sites say we have interest in Carter too but NJ won't trade him to an East team. ESPN Insider says we need a wing, but I don't have it.

Re: Chad Ford Updates Trade Front

Windhorst was just on All bets are off and he pretty much reiterated what he said in his article. That he doesn't see us making a move that we will probably take Boston's approach and see what players becoming available through buy outs. He said the word rigth now is that Joe Smith could be traded to the Kings so he could see him getting bought out if that happens. So my expections for next week are nil, i'm sure i'll be on like everyone else will be waiting it out but i expect nothing when the deadline hits. BW also said fans are crazy if they think we can get Amar'e for Wally/JJ lol.....

Re: Chad Ford Updates Trade Front

The Nets should jump on any deal that would give them a combination of cap relief and picks. Getting the last three years and $51 million of his contract off their books has to be a priority right now.

I sure hope this leads to us getting Carter. Another player that would be real nice off the bench is Marquis Daniels. When he was with the Mavs he was doing really well then he got dealt. He was doing well this season until he got hurt and Dunleavy came back.

Re: Chad Ford Updates Trade Front

I don't see why we would have interest in Marion, that continue's to get shot down so i don't know why we keep hearing we have interest in him. And Carters name keeps coming up like if we are still trying to get the Nets to bite on Wally for VC. But from what we are hearing we aren't trying to do much. I wouldnt be surprised to see VC traded for McGrady just because McGrady has a year less left on his contract than VC.

Re: Chad Ford Updates Trade Front

I remember Ferry wanted VC in the off-season. I could see him waiting out to the last day and see if the Nets GM gets desperate and decides to accept that VC for Wally when he realized we aren't trading him picks or JJ, though I would give up picks for VC anyway. I am still not expecting a move though, but we shall see.

Re: Chad Ford Updates Trade Front

I don't think anyone wants McGrady right now. He can't play anymore.

Re: Chad Ford Updates Trade Front

You have to believe that Camby or Kaman is available and I think either would be a nice addition particularly Camby. I am concerned that we might somehow overpay for Stoudemire. But this has already been rehashed a thousand times so I guess all we can do is wait and see.

Insider portion:

Here's a look at five teams currently shopping for wings as the deadline nears.

Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cavs plugged a huge hole at point guard this summer with Mo Williams, but they've yet to find the answer at the 2. While it's not the only position they need to fill -- a more offensively skilled power forward would also help -- it's a need that they're searching for help.

That explains their interest in Vince Carter, Mike Miller and other shooting guards who could help shoulder some of the scoring burden. Sasha Pavlovic (out with an ankle injury) and Daniel Gibson are nice players, but if the Cavs are serious about winning it all, that's the spot to address.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Toronto Raptors
One of the reasons Jermaine O'Neal is on the block is the realization that Andrea Bargnani, who has no business playing the 3, needs to be in the starting lineup.

Jamario Moon and Jason Kapono are fine at small forward, but it's still an area of concern for the Raptors. Ditto for the shooting-guard spot. Anthony Parker has been great, but he's an unrestricted free agent this summer and the Raptors need to get younger at this position.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New York Knicks
If Mike D'Antoni's offense is really going to fire on all cylinders, the Knicks need a lot more help at the 2 and the 3. Wilson Chandler has been solid, but Quentin Richardson and Jared Jeffries aren't going to cut it.

The hitch for the Knicks is this: They can't really take back players with contracts that go beyond the summer of 2010. If they do, they hurt their chances of landing the best wing in basketball -- LeBron James.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oklahoma City Thunder
The Thunder have their small forward of the future in Kevin Durant. No longer playing the 2, he's back at his natural spot on the floor and he's been dynamite.

The problem is the Thunder don't have a lot of great options at shooting guard now. Desmond Mason is out for the season. Earl Watson plays there on occasion. And neither Damien Wilkins nor Kyle Weaver will get Thunder fans excited. If the Thunder can trade one of their highly coveted, soon-to-be free agent big men for a young 2-guard, it would be a huge coup for them.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New Jersey Nets
The Nets seem to be set for the future at two positions: point guard and center. And Yi Jianlian has potential at the 4. But the wing spots are pretty wide open if you subscribe to the idea that Vince Carter could be gone sooner rather than later. In the long run, they would like to add another young guard to play with Harris in the backcourt.

The Nets have been shopping Bobby Simmons, but may not have a ton of luck there. There's some talk about a trade for Larry Hughes, though it's a struggle to see how that helps them.

Re: Chad Ford Updates Trade Front

Also...^ Why the hell does nobody ever show any respect to Delonte? I know he is injured but most analysts never even mention him. They act like Wally, Sasha and Boobie are our only SG's, I don't get it.

Is this a joke?It looks like to me those so called experts don't even know that Delonte plays for us and that he has been a huge reason for our great start before he got hurt.

Not that I'm against trading for somebody like Vince, but saying that we "have yet to find the answer at the 2" is complete BS.

Re: Chad Ford Updates Trade Front

^ Did you not just say exactly what I said above you?

Re: Chad Ford Updates Trade Front

Id take Richard Jefferson easily over Vince. Age, more consistent defender although both can be lockdown, cheaper, used to being 2nd or 3rd option.

Id still take Vince, but that contracts still a killer any way you look at it.
