5.) Jones offered some clarity as to what his role entails.

“I am the senior defensive assistant so basically I work very closely with the defensive coordinator. I’m an extra set of eyes at all three levels and that kind of thing"

Wouldn't be surprised if Whitt's official title ends up being something like Cornerbacks/Passing game coordinator.

I guess I'm the only one that found it a little awkward and weird? As in, the hosts and fans have to openly question if that was actually the guy just handed millions to run a billion dollar organization? Oh well. Good to hear he is hard at work in Berea, although those work days he described seem nuts to me out of season.

Head coach in the NFL is such a crazy long job, in season or out of season. Its why their marriages are a mess, their kids are a mess, because they put everything they have into coaching and then some.

So a CFL head coach makes around 400k a year. A positional coach like a RB coach will make around the same, but some are making as much as 750k. Its a bit hard to research because its not public knowledge.

My point is its a great opportunity for Jones to not take much of a pay cut and start his NFL resume. It also makes me wish my Dad was a NFL coach because it seems half the NFL positional coaches fathers coached in the NFL and its kind of a dream job for me, lol.

There's a reason his contract in the CFL included outs for NFL/NCAA gigs. It's the apex of the profession. A lateral salary move is a fairly significant "win" for Jones.

I’m used to seeing a run/pass game coordinator being more of an offensive coach. Don’t recall seeing the inverse previously wherein there’s a DB/pass game coordinator. As in his focus is on pass defense? I know that’s a painfully obvious question?

Kris Richard of the Dallas Cowboys is a defensive passing game coordinator. I'm not sure I had seen the title before he was given it last offseason but would be willing to guess others have had it in the past as well on the defensive side of the ball.

Clearly 3 special teams coaches was nowhere near enough.
