Frye to Suns 2/yr $3.8 mill (pg. 37)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
if this is really true I hope we sign Kleiza/joe smith or just let oour 20 yr old prospect develop into a serviceable 4th big.

He probably went with Phoenix because he can grab a starting gig.

Start over Amare? Dont know why he took less cash to go to phoenix. probably because we couldnt get parker inked to know how much we had for him.

Sources: Hill to stay with Suns

Grant Hill(notes) has decided to re-sign with the Phoenix Suns, and a large part of the decision is based on the belief that Steve Nash(notes) is close to reaching an agreement on a contract extension, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

The Suns will also sign free agent Channing Frye(notes) to a two-year deal for $3.8 million, sources said. The second season is at Frye’s option.

The New York Knicks reportedly offered Hill the choice of a one-year, $5 million deal or a three-year, $10 million contract. Hill also had an offer from the Boston Celtics.Nevertheless, he’s believed to be comfortable with the direction of the Suns to re-sign there.

The terms of the Nash extension are unclear, although one source believes it is a three-year deal worth about $33 million.

NBA Free Agency : Cross Channing Frye Off Your List

Yahoo!s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Channing Frye will sign with the Phoenix Suns for two years and $3.8 million.

The second season is reportedly Frye’s option.

Assuming that yesterday’s reports on Anthony Parker’s contract are correct, the Cavaliers definitely had this money available. Whether or not they offered it is the unknown at this point.

NEXT, somebody call Brandon Bass, Linus Klieza or any-damn-body.

But I do wonder what Ferry offered him. If Parker got part of the MLE, I'm assuming around $3 million, That would leave around $2.9 million to throw at Frye and still have the BAE to hook Danny Green if need be.

Curious, I think the hometown thing played a bigger role than money.

I think a big part of it is that he went to the University Of Arizona. Maybe that was it?

Call Denver and see if they are still interested in Joe Smith then sign and trade his ass for Kleiza. 24 years old, went for 40+ once, and can knock down shots from the PF position. Get on it.

What does going to the University of Arizona and then playing for Phoenix do for his career? Nothing. This just doesn't make sense to me. Especially for as little as he signed for. This one really hurts, i thought we had him.

Lamar Odom
Glenn Davis
Brandon Bass
Paul Milsap
Joe Smith

??????

Only options left unless we make a trade

If we are done in making moves for the offseason, Im dissapointed.

Frye is the last "stretch PF" available in FA. We could sign Joe Smith, but that would give us the worlds oldest frontcourt....ever.

Oh well, I aint gonna get my panties in a bunch unless the end of august rolls around and we are going with what we got currently.

JJ and Darnell better be ready.

I assumed Amare, if he stays, slides to C. Their bigs are Lopez, Amare, Wallace, Dudley, and Amundson. I think they actually played Hill at PF a bit last season. Frye is going to get some guaranteed minutes in that lineup. He's a 4th big for us. I refuse to believe we didn't offer BAE or better.

Plus Ferry might have mentioned working on defense or something...may have scared him off. :chuckles:

Re: Windy: Cavs in talks for Frye

Well looks like Frye is going to sign with the suns...

:thumbdown After all the good insight we heard on him, I was really hoping we could nab him.

My guess is were most interested in a trade. If we really felt Frye was the best option we would have offered more money. BroRed keeps telling us we think we can get most value out of trade. Keep your eyes open.

Well what guys who fit our needs would be available via trade? The only ones i can think of are All Star caliber players. Maybe Haslem? i dunno, this just really sucks.

An AV/Shaq frontcourt is worse offensively than a Shaq/Frye frontcourt is defensively. It fucks up everything for lebron.

Not if Shaq ends up sitting on the bench in foul trouble.

I have more confidence that Andy can learn some new tricks on offense then that someone who's never played D is going to be able to step right in to our system. I'm sure we'll explore our other options, but remember we didn't sign Joe last year until the trade deadline. It wouldn't hurt to once again let our young guys show what they can do.

As for Andy, a reliable jumper would be nice, but like I've said before if our offense constantly devolves in to Andy (or anyone) constantly taking 18fters then it's broken. If left alone he needs to go set a screen to set someone else free, or make a cut for that reverse layup he likes.
