How do you see the Center position evolving over the next few years for the Cavs?
Before this trade, the position was a bit of a concern moving forward. Z is on his last legs. He can still knock down a jumper (well a set shot), but he's getting very slow on defense.
We didn't really have a center developing underneath Z, and Hickson and Jackson are both power forwards. That basically left Andy Varejao as a guy who plays PF now but might be able to be our C in the future, especially if Hickson develops into a strong offensive PF to compliment him.
Now, with the acquisition of Shaq, and Z moving to the bench (most likely) or being traded (doubtful), are we less likely to keep Andy? And if we let Andy take the money and walk, who is the future at center?
Shaq and Z will both be done in the next 3 years.
Thoughts?
