Game 1 | Celtics (0-0) @ Cavs (0-0) | Tuesday, October 17, 2017 | 8:00 PM EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We saw the best of Shump and the worst of Shump.

But to act like he didn't make some critically positive plays in this game(to go along with the bad ones) is looking the other way. That offensive rebound and outback late in the game was key.

I feel he is not as awful has people think and does do positive things. However is BB IQ is so low it is hard to trust him In the final seconds.

Lots of overreaction here tonight. Anytime you add 4 new players all getting significant mins it’s going to take some time. Plus Lebron barely played in the preseason. This team is stacked. Rose looks quick (couldn’t buy a call) and Wade looks good enough for a solid 25-30 mins per game. Add The all around game of Crowder and Greens athleticism and we’ll be in great shape. Just wait until IT comes back.

Boy are these rotations rough. Cannot wait for Rose's minutes to decrease. Never liked him as a player before and he's no different. Absolute tunnel vision.

No chance we are in the top 10 3pt shooting this yr with the current rotation.

We have a lot of high-minutes players who can't shoot or draw fouls, that is not a modern NBA thing. Rose/Wade/Green combined for 28 points on 32 shots, and that is about what their recent years stats would lead you to expect will continue.

We have $22 million committed to Kyle Korver and seem to have no idea how to use him. With our current lack of a coherent offensive scheme or defensive backstop he appeared almost unplayable today.

IT-Wade-LBJ-Crowder-Love

Rose-JR-Korver-Green-TT

Shump and Korver can be interchangeable depending on matchup.

That's what makes sense to me once IT is back.

LeBron will obviously play in that second unit at times.

Heat of the moment. These guys have been through a lot together. And in the end, I bet LeBron (et. al.) see through Kyrie's pettiness. I'm sure they collectively shake their head at what he's doing. Tonight wasn't pretty, but they all know KI and the Celts aren't making significant noise in the EC.

My thoughts exactly, until tonight....Not sure what to make of them tbh...

They have some nice young talent over there, and that Irving guy is actually a pg and a scorer...

I thought we should have won by more. We still looked stagnant without James, that sucked. Our depth did not show tonight.

Not gonna lie, it felt kind of weird watching that kid nearly do what he did for us so many times in the past during crunch time. I could not be the only one like "Oh damn..." When Irving got that ball in the corner during the last play lol. Great d by James. Grindy win, but I will take it. Not always pretty.

My takeaways,

We still have some gelling to do.

Don't panic

James is still the GOAT

Rose & wade still have it

Boston is an enigma at this point, nothing for us to worry about though.

Irving does indeed have other levels to his game, something we always wondered when he was here.

I'm kind of glad the game went how it went because it ended with Kyrie air balling a game-tying 3 at the buzzer with LeBron in his face. You'll always be little brother Kyrie.

For all his faults, Kyrie is a great fucking player. We all knew that when he was here and nothing has changed now that he's left. Wasn't fun to have him on the other team, on offense he's like a time bomb waiting to go off.

Stevens has already got him focusing on passing and looking more comfortable in a ball movement offense. 10 assists today, Rose had 2...

Drew 25 FTs tonight man...we do that every night, and shoot 80% like we did tonight, we will win a lot of games with that alone. We drew less FTA per game than that last year.

And this was game 1. Rotations/system/cohesion...we weren't just going to magically walk into the season with that with 3 new starters, and 4 new rotation players.

That takes time. Give it time.

I'm actually not down on Rose or Wade individually.

I thought both guys showed some flashes of what they can do.

The issue is just starting them both in the same backcourt.

It just destroys the spacing and more practice time/time to gel isn't going to fix that issue.

Flanking the greatest passing forward in NBA history with two hesitant perimeter shooters that aren't all that good when they do put them up just seems ridiculous to me.

There was no ball movement offense going on today.

Kyrie got all of his assists passing out of double and triple teams to wide open guys. Basic read and react stuff.

Aside from the three point barrage, Kyrie was quiet and timid offensively. Was not attacking. Essentially neutered by the offense.

Props for making the right pass, but the whole "side to side, flow, ball movement" offense Stevens gets so much credit for just didn't exist. There didn't even score 100 points and we turned the ball over 20+ times. That's abysmal offense. Absolutely abysmal.

Kyrie's raw numbers are going to be better by default but I think his impact is going to be even worse. He's going to miss all the attention Bron drew.

Only reason Rose starts is because of Thomas.

And Wade starting right now is window dressing that was used to get him here IMO, if some of the S34 rumors are true...not sure that lasts throughout the season.
