Game #27 | Thunder @ Cavs | Dec. 10, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Individual stats:

Starters:
Allen 21-11-1- with a steal and a block in 37 minutes. Plus lots of intimidation and altered shots.
Stevens 10-7-1 with 3 steals and a block in 31 minutes Great game, JYD, IMO
Garland 13-3-8 with 2 steals in 34 minutes. His shot was off. He's definitely targeted by the defenses
LeVert 22-4-4 in 38 minutes Good fill in for Mitchell and good defense
Mobley 21-12-3 in 37 minutes He was 8-14 and could have had more. He missed some shots near the rim.

Bench 23-11-8 in 25 minutes. Mediocre bench scoring, but it was enough.
Okoro 8-3-2 with 2 blocks in 19 minutes. Not bad. 3-7 fg 2-4 from 3.
Neto 5-1-4 in 14 minutes Good work
Osman 8-5-1 in 25 minutes. Off from 3, 0-4, but good hustle and help on defense.
Lopez 2-2-1 in 5 minutes.

Neto, albeit with a small sample size, does not turn the ball over at the same rate. And he is playing with absolute dog shit for wings.

Levert also does not turn the ball over when he was the one initiating.
When Neto is in, he hands the ball off to a wing or DG, and then goes to stand in the corner while his man completely ignores him and doubles the guy Neto just handed the ball to. JBB played DG, Okoro, and Neto last night and it was so predictable: 3 guys on DG, turnover.

Realistically top 4.
1. 14%
2. 14%
3. 14%
4. 12.5%
5. 10.5%
6. 9%
7. 7.5%
8. 6%

Only a 54.5% chance anyone in the top 4 gets it. In 2018, the last year before they flattened, top 4 teams had a collective 72.4% chance of getting #1. Now the top 6 teams have a 74% chance.

It makes serious tanking less relevant. I'd just want to be in the worst 5 or 6 records to have a decent shot.

Even still you have to play the game the right way. If the guys miss shots and you lose, then lose that way and force roster changes.

I have honestly always questioned Garland's ability to pass out of traffic in the paint. He has never been good, to my eyes, at seeing guys once he's in amongst the trees. Always thought that's been a weakness.

He can throw the lob, but he doesn't hit the corner shooter.
This is also the reason why the ball moves better with Mitchell was the one initiating the offense. He sees and makes the Lebron passes. That corner pass is the first pass for the ball to move as the defense will naturally shift towards the ball.

Someone explain to me the difference between JBB offense and ten offense from Byron Scott and Mike Brown. I’m not seeing it. This offense is too dependent on our best players just having more talent than their opponents. Nothing looks quick and easy. We’re slow. Take too long to get into sets. Our lineup combos leave a lot to be desired.

Yea I legitimately don't think Garland can make that pass with a lot of regularity. Like I actually don't think he has the athletic ability/strength/whatever to see and make the corner pass when he's surrounded by 7 foot players.

I've seen that enough over the years at this point.

I mean, if Levert was able to run the offense without turnovers late in the game, how is that on the coaching staff and not the player?

Mitchell had no trouble being the PG when Darius was out early in the season as well...
both those players have been in the league longer than garland, and both those players have playoff experience IINM.

It starts making the game harder on everyone else when those start clanking and nobody seems like they trust this coaching staff to correct or plan it. Okoro can be totally useless for an entire quarter but this dumbass will give him a leash length on par with Mobley.

Here's a coaching thing. Or maybe it's a Jarrett Allen conditioning thing.

The Thunder were so skinny late in that game. Nothing but really frail guys down low.

And we didn't get Allen a single post touch? Not ONE?? We let them abuse Allen on defense by stretching the floor and didn't try to go at them once on the other end.

Now, I say some of that might be on Allen because they did swing the ball one time with the intention of getting him the ball and he just made no effort to get in front of his man and actually signaled for the ball to just swing the other way.

So maybe he was tired and didn't want to try and post up the skinny dudes.

I have yet to see DG attempt that weakside corner pass. He makes the strongside corner pass, but that more potent weakside corner pass I rarely see.

Yeah, maybe he lacks strength or the vision to locate that side of the court.
