At the risk of completely jinxing it --- Mike Brown just coached an excellent half.
Actually LeBron has a scapegoat!

Maximus clearly jinxed us!

Larry Hughes has no business playing over Sasha right now... Sasha is more of a threat...

The thing is Sasha is playing well at both ends!

It's a positive in one aspect and a negative in another that both Gibson and Sasha played well tonight and produced while on the other hand LeBron and Hughes shot poorly and had a terrible shot selection.

Cavs blew a game they should have won tonight and basically choked down the stretch.
It was an ugly performance by both teams for much of the night.

LeBron goes 6-8 instead of 3-8 at the FT line it's a whole new ballgame. He started out tonight moving the ball but then regressed to the hold the ball and dribble down the shotclock routine that causes teammates and the offense to stagnant.

Gibson has won the PG job. There should be no chance at any change the rest of the way. He needs to be allowed to play more of a PG role and not have to defer to LeBron and Hughes much of the time.
With Sasha's play we should be seeing the reduction of LeBron and Hughes' minutes too. Now that confidence has been shown in Sasha, he's being looked at to score and he's getting consistent minutes, he's producing and playing consistently. He needs to continue to play a minimum of 15 minutes a night.

Cavs blew what should have been a nice win tonight.

Great coaching with nice substitutions in the 1st half. Second half still going good into the 4th, but then MB seems to get confused. Needed to double Wade, let anyone else take the shot. See that brick Walker threw up after the one time they doubled? The Lebron 30 ft away with Z setting a pick play needs to be scrapped. No way do you have a 6'8" 250 with a bad toe that far out trying to go around a pick set by a 7"3 center. How about posting either one down low? Especially with Shaq fouled out, I don't think they went down to Z once. Post Lebron down low where no one on Miami can handle him and much better results would have happened. Could have played inside out game with Gibson or Sasha who should have been in at the end. Sasha basically looked great and not only was attacking the basket, but also setting up teamates for easy shots. Hey Danny, Is Bibby still available?

I'm trying to collect my thoughts after this nightmare I just witnessed. I haven't been this upset about a loss since the playoffs last year.

Most of my anger is directed at LeBron, Larry, and Mike Brown right now.

LeBron for obvious reasons. And if anyone even tries to defend his performance tonight then I'll have whatever you're smoking. His FT shooting is INEXCUSABLE. And there is no sense of urgency in his game. He looked tentative down the stretch and I'm so sick of him settling for the long jumpers. If anyone is going to make the excuse of him playing injured then he shouldn't be out there. Because he hurt the team tonight.

Larry - I don't really know what to say any more. It is beyond frustrating.

And Mike Brown, why, why, why, why, WHY would you not start double-teaming Wade after about the third time he drew a foul at the rim??? I'm sure others have posted the same tonight but I'm too mad to read everything above this. Can anyone defend how MB coached in the 4th??? Or try to explain what his plan was out there??? To me it was mind-boggling.

He actually played the best defense on Wade tonight.

Why the hell is Gibson on the god damn court when we need a three to take the game to OT. Are you freaking kidding me. He was on fire behind the arch 4-6. What a joke.

Way to show some confidience in your rookie. Idiots.

I just heard some post game audio.... wait till you see what Drew said. He was questioning Mike Brown's rotations. Lebron was blaming himself and Coach Brown seemed to be blaming the refs.

that was stupid substitution and play by mike brown in the last secs of the game. he should not have taken out gibson. and gibson should take the last shot coz he was shooting 4/6 from the 3pt line.

Funny how they didn't send out the normal post-game Cavaliers Insider e-mail with all the quotes. Did anyone get it?

Here are the quotes I could find:

Mike Brown
On the Game:
“I think we had our chances down the stretch. Dwyane is a great player and he attacks the rim. I am giving him his due credit. He is a special player, he is aggressive, assertive and confident. He has those killer instincts, when he smells blood, he is coming. Having said that we had our chances and we didn’t close the deal. It is disappointing. Anytime you are up on anybody in this league your lead is not safe. You have to play the right way. We had two possessions where we turned the ball over and they capitalized. It gave them some confidence and got the crowd back into it. We had some opportunities down the stretch at the free throw line ourselves. So, we had some opportunities to win the ball game and just didn’t do it.

On the last play:
“It didn’t go the way we drew it up. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t and that time it didn’t.”

LeBron
On the game:
“We had a lot of chances. I take full responsibility for this loss tonight. I had a lot of chances to put us up two or to tie the game and I didn’t make a lot of plays for our team to win down the stretch. Coach gave us a lot of opportunity to win and, as a leader, I didn’t come through down the stretch so I definitely take full responsibility and I owe my team one.”

On his toe injury:
“I didn’t play my usual 42 minutes but I felt pretty good. That was not an issue tonight.

On the flagrant foul call:
“I tried to go for the steal but anytime you hit someone’s face like that it’s a flagrant foul no matter what. They know it’s not intentional but it is part of the rules. Of course (Dwyane) Wade knows it wasn’t intentional but you have to call it.”

On the free throw disparity:
“It’s going to be tough to beat anyone when one individual shoots as many free throws as your whole team. He was aggressive and he got a lot of calls. Some could have been judgmental but he gets a lot of those calls.”

Gooden
On the game:
“You could take a lot of plays that happened during the course of the game where you could say ‘could of, would of, should of’. I think it was a good game, it was an exciting game, we put up a fight and we played a lot better than we did last time we were in this building when we lost by 30 points.”

On why they lost the 12-point lead:
“I think we made some substitutions that hindered us for a couple of minutes. I think that’s when the lead decreased and we had to put our starters back in and it was a neck and neck fight to the end.”

On Cleveland’s nine-game losing streak in Miami:
“This is a tough team to play.”

On LeBron James taking responsibility for the loss:
“If he wants to take it upon himself to say that he can, but there has been times where he won games for us.”

Brian Windhorst gives the full and honest quotes in his game recap today.

"Gooden took a different tack. He questioned why Brown made substitutions with eight minutes to play after the Cavs had built a lead. A motley crew of Sasha Pavlovic, Eric Snow, Donyell Marshall, Anderson Varejao and Damon Jones built the Cavs up to their biggest lead of the game.

Then Brown inserted Larry Hughes, Scot Pollard and and James. Over a four-minute span -- after Daniel Gibson, who had a career-high 19 points, Gooden and Zydrunas Ilgauskas were also added -- the Cavs lost their entire lead. It was mostly due to poor shot selection and turnovers.

It cleared the way for Wade to take over and win the game.

"We made some substitutions that hindered us a little bit,'' Gooden said. "You could say we should've left that group in."

Afterward, Brown was in a slow burn about all the trips to the foul line Wade earned. Most of them came off brave drives, even when the Cavs were double- or triple-teaming him. The Cavs coach was especially upset Wade had as many free throws as the entire Cavs team.

"I take nothing away from him, but I'm getting mixed messages (from the referees),'' Brown said. ``I'm getting one message on our end and another message on their end. I have no idea how we can guard the guy.''

I'm still amazed we let Posey get that offensive rebound. How can you let him do that?
