Game Thread | Cavs @ Nuggets | Jan. 6, 2023

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I thought Wham told us he was out?
He's listed as "questionable" but he's been listed as questionable for several games now and hasn't played. I figured that with Mitchell out there's no point playing Garland. It was more of an assumption that he wouldn't play rather than a statement of fact.

Just because he was at the shootaround doesn't mean he's playing. But if his hand is OK it would be nice to get him some minutes to ease back into playing at game speed before they play Phoenix Friday.

The Cavs will probably lose tonight, but this is too defeatist. If Garland plays tonight, they should have a puncher's chance. Darius, Evan, and Jarett are not chopped liver. Let's roll out a starting 5 of Garland, LeVert, Osman, Mobley, and Allen and see what happens.
Look at that. They resting

In fact, while he was listed as officially QUESTIONABLE against the Bulls, he was officially listed as DOUBTFUL against Phoenix; so the appearance at shootaround along with the upgrade is somewhat significant.

Another thought is that perhaps JBB had an inkling that DG would return tonight (if there were no setbacks ) and that gave him some additional comfort in giving Donovan a day off

No Mitchell, maybe Garland, in Denver. If DG plays, I'll check the score at the end of the first to see if I'll watch. One of those nights.

Listen. I barely have half as many posts here as you here, but I still have a 200+ reaction score (whatever that is) lead over you, brutha. So I'm not the one who should be sitting down.

Relax fellas. Have a happy Friday night and not a pissing contest. Even game threads have to have some level of respect for each other.

I don’t see DG playing tonight….making him the focal point of the offense with Mitchell out that would lead to more hacks at his healing hand!

Denver is not known as a dirty team, even though Jokic is known to go after those who try to hack him. But if Garland is not fit to go, he should not play. Take the L and move on.
Sucks we dont get see Murray vs Donovan. Those two have a history

Oh, I forgot that! That would be special!

Am I a dinosaur who thinks non-injured players should never rest on game days?

With an 82 game season you’re going to have nights like this. I want all our guys fully healthy for the playoffs so we have to be strategic

I’m not a fan of sitting guys, but this is definitely the game to do it. If Garland is 99% he shouldn’t play until next game.

If we have Garland and Mitchell back against Phoenix we should win easily.

If Garland can play he should play IMO. Give Mitchell his well earned rest but give the guys a chance to win the game. Also, Mitchell had his turn being the focal point, let Garland have his.
