Game Thread | Game #29 | Cavs @ Mavericks | Dec. 14, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The Spurs had no bigs on Monday and still beat us. :crushed:

Yeah we have to watch for our bigs to get beat in transition when the other team is a lot smaller. Raps always do that.

Maxi Kleber is questionable for tonight. He's a 6'10" PF averging 6.2 points per game. Not an impact player but if he's out the only bigs they have are Powell and Christian Wood (6'9"). There's JaVale McGee but he rarely plays.
Max Glue. Kleber means “glue” in German.

You could say he’s their “glue guy”.

I crack myself up…

Kleber has fallen off this year especially on offense, but he had a strong case for All D 2nd team and top 100 player last season. Still a pretty good versatile defender. He is their Dean Wade, but less handsome.

this might be the season they turn me in to an alcoholic. So much talent, such poor coaching x's and o's.

I'm on the fence with this one. Usually, the Cavs follow a bad loss with a victory. The Mavs are good shooters, but they're small and I think the Stevens/Okoro combination will work well against Doncic, as well as an occasional Mobley/Allen.

I think we win. 105-101. 50-50 chance though.

Question off topic before this game starts later! I asked Cavatt a question last night about if only coaches can call timeouts and he “No players can call them too”. Sure enough a check of rules solidified his answer! So my question is this:
We’ve been getting on JBB about not calling time outs during scoring runs ….so during a 15,16 or 19-0 run why don’t players take it upon themselves to call a time out????

When you think Cavs vs Mavs in Dallas there’s only 1 thing that comes to mind…

Damn!! Just finished watching a special on NBA TV….I forgot the s**t Pistol used to do with a basketball! Pete was a BAAAAAAAAD MAN ;)

Because the coach would have their head if they did.

Still holds the collegiate scoring record, 44 ppg!

Yeah, the only time you see it is when they go to the floor with possession and are in imminent danger of getting tied up. That’s pretty much the only latitude the coaches seem to give them in regards to calling their own timeouts. You don’t even see Lebron do it, despite being quasi mgmt.

I would guess the guys calling timeouts and getting technicals at end of game started the trend of being coached not to call them. Usually an assistant is tasked with keeping track of them.

Virtually the only time you see players call a timeout is either when they can’t inbounds the ball or when they get trapped and have picked up their dribble. Apart from that, most players feel it s incumbent upon the coaching staff to make those “momentum type” timeouts since they’re more aware of how many timeouts are left and when we have the use it or lose it situations
