Game Thread | Game #37 | Cavs @ Bulls | Dec. 31, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I've come to around to this too. I was a Stevens supporter, but Okoro pushes the pace/transition more and it's an element this team needs. When Okoro and Cedi were in at the same time, they both helped the leads balloon by getting transition buckets.

Stop playing Okoro and Stevens at the same time too.

I think I’d move Steven’s out of the rotation in favor of Diakite. I personally would start LeVert. I still think our best ball this year overall has been with him starting and it gets the best out of him.

Hopefully Mitchell and Allen in the next game can bounce back and maybe we can put the Bulls away easily. Banking both of these games is important especially if we can let Mobley and Garland rest (though I do think Garland will miss a few more, but I think Rubio will be back in the next 3 games almost for sure)

Cavs choke down the stretch with turnovers and an airball, but get lucky when DeRo misses the final shot. Love missed an easy bank shot and LeVert airballed a floater in the lane with 6 seconds left and the Cavs up by a point.

But they played pretty good defense, holding the Bulls to 102. DeRo and LaVine combined for just 36 points. Mitchell is still having problems with his jump shot, going 5-for-16. He also had 7 turnovers. It was one of Mitchell's worst games of the year but the Cavs overcame it even with Garland and Mobley out to get a hard-earned W.

Love had a nice game with 20 points and 9 boards and hit 5 of 11 from deep, and we needed all of them. Lopez had 9 points and 4 boards in 13 minutes, including a 3-pointer that was the difference in a 1-point win. Lopez, Cedi, Okoro, and Neto all had positive on/off numbers as the bench came through. Okoro had 11 points, 7 rebounds, a steal and a block.

It's frustrating to watch Stevens and Okoro brick almost every uncontested corner 3. We need Wade in the worst way.

The Cavs had 21 turnovers as the Bulls did a great job of jumping the passing lanes for 15 steals. That and missing 7 of 19 free throws should have cost them the game, but they found a way to get out with a win.

The difference was our 15 offensive rebounds to their 9. Six more possessions made the difference.

That is one of the worthless line ups JBB comes up with (Okoro and Stevens) in a game! Having two brick layers on the floor!

Interview with LeVert, Mr. JYD tonight.

I don’t disagree with you but have you ever had the job of rotating eight guys and having to avoid 2 of them ever playing together? It’s not easy. Stop and draw up a rotation chart and check it out. And circumstances change rotations.

It's nice to see the Cavs play a team where you don't have to worry about a 3 point barrage killing them.
It's also nice to see Okoro getting his groove back and playing both sides of the ball with CONFIDENCE!
Also nice to see some good stuff out of Neto, who was added for a reason!!
Not nice to see another down game from Donovan.
Not nice to see leads go down the toilet due to turnovers.
But it's always nice to see a W.
Waiting for Dean Wade to get better, Rubio to appear, and Darius to heal up.

Lamar needs to see the doghouse once these things happen

Mitchell had no confidence in his outside shot. He lost confidence in his ability to attack the hoop as the Bulls sagged off and packed the paint. But He kept trying to force passes into JA. Just pull up and take the 15 footers, they were there. Love tried forcing some inside passes too when he could have just took the shot. We overpassed and passed badly down the stretch.

Yeah, I don't get why people don't get that JBB has to play someone. I'm over Stevens, but I realize that means he has to play Okoro, Cedi, or LeVert even more, and those options are what I'd charitably describe as not great

Don’t have a problem with him playing Stevens……but it’s ridiculous to have him on the floor at the same time as Okoro. Without those two on the floor it’s basically 5 on 3. Neither of them can throw the ball in the ocean from the beach :(
