Gilbert wants larry brown..but get this not as coach! but GM!

Link

i seriously clueless what 2 say.

the Cavaliers would have to make sure Brown and LeBron James patched up their differences after last summer's failed Olympic bid.

Gilbert will really show he has no idea what he's doing if he brings in larry brown for gm. I'll educate some of you on larry's past. In larrys stints before detroit, they weren't successful. He had say in personnel decisions then too. It did not work out well for him then, it was not until detroit where he was stripped of his decision making in the FO where he became successful. Larry is NOT a good person to have making decisions for a team. He should stay in the coaching box or retire, and gilbert grape should definately not give him any consideration for the gm position.

Larry brown seems to get sick of jobs...he stays then he leaves...he can't stay somewhere for a long time..he just isn't that person.

i agree with everything u said. larry isn't the answer...Lebron hates him anyways..just another reason on why he should come in.

NOOOOO Why Larry Brown? That is ludacris. He is a good coach, but I don't want him anywhere near the GM table. This is another guy who refuses to play young talent, imagin the old scrubs he would bring to us... Ugh...

There is plenty worse then Larry Brown. How can you say he wasn't successful elsewhere. Indiana and Phili have has very good times with Brown, as have the Pistons. His ways may upset some, but he gets results.

Those teams have had sucess with LB as a coach. But the question is Karma, how well will he perform as a GM?

The success in Philly was nil. They were lucky the eastern conference was really bad then. It wasn't until Billy King took over that philly became stabilized as an organization. Larry Browns indecision, and disinterest is not something you want in your G.M. Brown has had limited success when he had say in basketball decisions. There is plenty beter than Larry Brown. I WILL NOT SETTLE FOR MEDIOCRITY! BLASPHEMY!

Before Detroit, Larry Brown was pretty good at taking teams from mediocrity right up to the contender level, but never got the teams above the hump. That is, he took both phili and Indy from mediocrity to a new higher plane of mediocrity. I guess the same could be said about the olympics.

Now with Detroit, theres just a REALLY solid team there, and his defensive minded coaching style matched the team. The guy made a huge difference there, and beating the Shaq/Kobe tandem in what, 5 games?

That being said, the Cavs just dont match that kind of play style with the personnel in right now. Brown would not be that great of a match, plus I don't see him coaching somewhere else. Either he stays in Detroit after possibly another championship or he takes some time off

oh man, the article also mentions Danny Ferry. That guy already ruined this franchise one time

Larry Brown as GM would be a DISASTER. The guy can evaluate talent but then he has an extremely short fuse. Philly was a classis example where he would draft young talented players and then trade them for short term fixes. Sure it got them to one Finals appearance but in reality that team had no chance of beating any team that would have gotten of the West. It was Classic Larry Brown, sacrifice the future because he knew he wasn't going to stay there long enough to take the heat for his moves.

Zing! haha.

I dont like Larry Brown, and lebron doesnt seem to either after what happened in the Olympics. I dont know much about LB's other stints as a gm, but I wouldnt want to bring him in. He would bring in too much of that old school attitude that we didnt like about Silas. LB is a guy that favors certain players and doesnt like to play young guys just like Silas was. I doubt he'd want to some here anyway

Larry Brown would be a horrible choice for GM. He can coach but there's no way he should be in charge of personnel decisions. His sudden impulses and changing feelings regarding players would cause chaos with the Cavs. Someone on another board said how Brown always falls quickly in and out of love with players.
Larry Brown wouldn't exactly bring stability to the Cavs. How long before he'd want to leave for another job?
This possibility shows the cluelessness of Gilbert and how he knows little about the league. Apparently he also knows nothing of the LeBron/Brown relationship either.

I wouldn't be too quick to criticize the Danny Ferry possibility. He quickly has become respected in the league and is thought of as a GM candidate. Ferry has been around the league his whole life since his dad was a long time GM and front office executive.
You can't deny Ferry is a smart guy and despite never living up to his hype did manage to carve out a long career as an effective role player and won 2 championships.
I also like that Ferry comes from the Spurs, one of the best and most well run franchises in the league. He knows what it takes to win in the NBA.

I have no problem if Ferry is considered a candidate. I've said before the Cavs should look at and consider front office personnel from the NBA's most well run teams who have a history of success in judging talent, drafting and trading and who win. Ferry represents that.

Gilbert has his to far up his posterior to think logically about a professional basketball team he is trying to turn the cavs into the yankees except the yankees have talent and Steinbrenner knows what hes doing. Gilbert has a warped perception of the world.

Carlos Defino bad mouths Larry brown.

Note: it isn't in english but has been translated here

Q:-The relationship with Brown was always that bad?

A:- He never approached me, talked or was polite. I barely got a "hello". The day I got injured for the first time, he shouted "run, run" at me, and I couldn't. The next day I had an artoscopy(I don't know how to translate that), I never knew what his mood was, I found out on the papers. Like when he said that I didn't play any defense. He didn't told me what I was doing right and what was wrong. He never said anything in my face. I haven't learned anything with him as coach. He can't deal with the psichological side of a player.

Q:-How do you see your future?

A:- For this guy (Brown) I don't play again. And I don't want to stay here (Detroit). I felt like ****, they treated me like garbage. I expected another gesture, even from Dummars. I wish they trade or waive me. Maybe I say this because I'm really upset, but from this place I have the worst memories of my career and I want to go home.

this coach has got 2 be 1 of the worst player coaches ever...I seriously don't like the guy! Every where he goes you end up hearing atleast 2 guys per team bad mouthing him...He has character issues. I seriously can see him trying 2 sign free agents now.

Brown: 10mil for 2 years my final offer!

Top FA agent: Don't you think thats a little low? i think My client is worth about 12 mil a yr.

Brown: A**hole!

(Agent walks away)

another note: Ham yes Ham over defino for the playoffs....defino despite being a rookie >Ham
