Goodbye Larry Nance Jr.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This made me moist.

I just listened to the presser with Lue, and he honestly said "I don't know" about starting Nance going forward.

He mentioned liking his energy off the bench, but also mentioned the problem of "constantly starting games in the hole."

I think if Nance keeps playing well with the starters, Lue won't have a choice. I hope...

I agree, but it didn't sound like he's ready to make the change. He made some stupid comment about liking what Nance brings off the bench.

If Nance keeps tearing shit up, I think even Lue, as dumb as he is, will have to stick with him.

He’s the third best player on our team. Maybe that’s sad but I think it’s true

There’s been a lot of “Nance is our Draymond” stuff thrown around...and I just wanna add in that one of the main similarities I see is both guys are undersized but they use their strength and athleticism (Nances lateral movement and leaping, Draymond and his speed) in different ways to regularly neutralize bigger guys.

It’s kind of a shame Kyrie left. If we had last years team and still managed to pull off the Lakers trade I would have been mighty confident. I still like our team but an explosive and consistent offensive guard is basically our new biggest need. Nance is so good I have recalibrated my Nets pick targets for the summer. If one of Dame/CJ/Beal come available...I’m going after them. Even a guy like Kemba would be a great addition if they’ll take a different package.

I’m still hoping Nance can be our Abdul-Jabbar...

At this point I'm pretty open to the possibility of a Dame and Bron pick and roll being the closest thing to the 2016 Curry-Draymond PNR. Imagine if LeBron played with a guy like that who gets him infinite 4 on 3s.

I'm sure just from taking the ball out of the basket 55% of the time that defense could be in the top half of the league. Trade the BK pick and JC and you can have Hill as the best backup PG in the league by leaps and bounds. Even run a dual PG lineup with the two cuz Hill can guard whoever's the tougher matchup. If we can somehow get off of TTs contract so that Lue won't get Jedi Mind Tricked into playing him we could actually hit 60 wins again for once.

The BK pick and JC? You mean Clarkson or Calderon? Clarkson ain’t goin’ NOWHERE - I like him too much.

I was reading where Lue was blown away that Nance could shoot the ball without dunking it. He sounded like it was incredible that Nance could hit a mid range jumper.

I would think someone coaching at this level would have done some research from before he played for the Cavs, and watched Nance in practice enough to have at least a clue about it. I am definitely starting to see why you guys go off on Lue. I started seeing it when he would only play Larry 15 minutes a game and he would still have more production than TT. And then to blurt out that he wasn't sure about keeping Nance in the starting rotation down the road. Lue has me shaking my head about his coaching already and I have just started following the Cavs since the Nance trade.

Well, pull up a stool and have a beer! (you buy)[/QUOTE

A seat would be great, as would a beer. I am starting to feel your anguish. At least Larry has LBJ to help in his fight to get recognized as a pretty good player. If they keep their chemistry together and Love comes back strong, I can see the Cavs coming together if everyone plays their roles. No reason LBJ can't give that extra push to get to the finals. I have watched Golden State a lot in the last 3 years and it looks like they have a chin in their armor. Teams like the Lakers, Thunder and Rockets have all been playing them tough. They don't have a Jordan or LBJ to carry them. They are not as dominant as in years past. It could be complacency, or a breakdown of what roles everyone is supposed to play. The Bulls always had Jordan to push them through that, can Curry fill that role? Things would really have to fall into place for the Cavs, but I can at least picture it. But then my mind wanders and I see Lue on the sidelines trying to out think himself instead of letting the team try and mold with the best players on the court.

Lue didn't watch Cedi's Eurobasket performances. He had no idea about Cedi or his skillset coming into the season.

Unprofessionalism at it's best.

Heck, even during the season he had no idea what Cedi was good at(and still doesn't know) because they didn't run any practices.

We are going to need a good development coach asap to realize Cedi's potential and our new upcoming prospect. I don't see how "be aggressive" is going to be useful for a rookie. Can't let a coach be the reason another draft selection busts out.

*On a similar note, I think Cedi should be developed into a PG, or a high usage playmaker similar to Ginobili. I'm still not sure about him signicantly bulking up.

I get the feeling that Lue believes his primary responsibility is managing personalities rather than actually coaching players. That may be okay if you're the manager of a baseball team, but it doesn't float in basketball unless your talent level if head and shoulders above everyone else's. And sometimes not even then.

I can't really hear it anymore. He reeks of incompetence.

Telling every player to be aggressive sounds like a joke, but it's not, that's what he does.

Here is Rodney after the Pistons game talking about Lue and the difference in "systems" between Utah and the Cavs. Yes, he told him to just be aggressive.
