Goodbye Larry Nance Jr.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
To be fair TT has really been playing at his highest level so Lue has stuck with him. This limits LNJr's minutes and rightfully so. I'd like to see him get all of Green's minutes at the 5 though.

Problem is, TT playing at his highest level is still significantly worse than Nance playing at his highest level. Which is of course the whole reason why we traded our first rounder for Nance.

Wrong. That is not true so far this playoffs. TT is rebounding and defending at an elite level, and his scoring around the basket looks better than ever.

I like TT starting and Nance coming in off the bench.

No...you've been fooled because TT has gone from being a bottom-10 player in the entire NBA during the regular season to a serviceable roleplayer in the playoffs. Honestly, it's sad that this is even a debate.

Well, considering that Larry can't stay healthy, it IS a debate.

I love Larry and he has a MUCH higher ceiling than TT for sure, but Larry has been injured or inconsistent all playoffs.

Take off your blinders. I hated TT as much as anyone, but you're crazy if you don't see how much he's adding to our team right now.

To be clear, I said "TT playing at his highest level is still significantly worse than Nance playing at his highest level."

If Nance can't play at high highest level because he's injured, then yes, TT is the next best option. But when healthy, Nance is both better than TT and more consistent than TT. You have to go back to the Pacers series to find a game where TT looked genuinely better than Nance (and that was likely because Nance was playing hurt at the time).

That's not what he is saying though...

Agreed Nance is better at TT at everything. Seeing TT 3 secong gather for a floater make me cringe.

I know what he's saying.

I don't give a fuck about "potential" at this point in the season. TT is actually on the court and helping us win games.

Nance will likely contribute too if he stays healthy, and he's finally looking healthy. If he takes some of TT's minutes, and starts to step up, I'd fucking love it.

I hope both of them play well. I like Nance a lot.

But it's fucking moronic to trash on TT's play at this point. He's playing well and helping us win.

Jesus Christ this conversation is dumb. Why do posters on this board constantly pit one player against another? TT vs. Nance is stupid. We need them both, and I hope they both keep playing well.

Is it "trashing" on TT's play to say that he's been a serviceable roleplayer? I think that's exactly what he's been...and that's not a bad thing, because we've really struggled to put serviceable roleplayers on the court at times this postseason.

This conversation started when I disagreed with someone who said Nance is "rightfully" limited to ~10 minutes because TT is playing well. That's ridiculous...both of them are playing well, so at the very least they should be splitting minutes evenly.

Toughness is something I would like to see added in the offseason

I understand what you're saying, but given his health issues I'd rather limit him to short bursts of 10 to 20 mins a game. And, given how well TT defends big Al, I'm fine with saving Nance for the finals and keeping him at 10 or so.

Is he though? Is he a better post defender than Tristan? A better offensive rebounder? Would he do a better job on Al Horford?
