Guardians 2023 Mock Draft 1.0

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Where he is ranked?
One of my 7 corner OF'ers.

edit:
Wyatt Langford A 6'1" 225 athletic corner OF'er from Florida.. With his repeating swing & hand eye coordination, he appears to be dissuading scouts of him being a three true outcomes player.

Did it again.

The power he generates is big time.

Thomas White.. a tall drink of left handed water (Phillips Academy in Massachusettes) could be pry'd away from his Vanderbilt commitment.. great stuff.. great kid.. and smart.. very smart.. Someone that could be there at # 23?????

Mock Draft 2: Picks #'s 23, 58, 62 & 93, respectively

23 **Braden Taylor INF
58 **Thomas White LHSP
62 **Will Gasparino OF
93 **Kyle Teel C

The more you hear/see of these top two guys.. the more they fit into what the Guardians look for.. even if one of the two will be gone by the time the second choice for the Guardians comes about.. Spring baseball is underway now.. with several prospects showing helium while others are leaking all over themselves. We'll see in just under four months..

The three best catchers in this draft:

Blake Mitchell
Kyle Teel
Michael Carrico..

Any one of those three would be a fine addition to the Guardians minor league system.. & I still like Teel as the most likely.. he is having a great season in Charlottesville....

I thought a college catcher would have worked perfectly last year but Susac went 3 spots after DeLauter and Rushing went 3 spots after Campbell and Tanner was 1 pick after Messick. Both Susac and Rushing being high draft picks were placed in their A+ teams this year (Tanner is in low A). Yet, if you look at our depth charts

AAA- Naylor
AA - Lavastida (2nd option)
A+ - Ramirez, Planchart, Paz? (hasn't been assigned yet)
A - Mejias
Rookie - Lopez, Cedeno and Itzuris

Now, unless you pick someone in first round or two, I think then Mejias, Lopez and Cedeno will start to be blocked as even a high college kid will be assigned to A/A+ next year. But, then again, when was the last time did we select a high catcher - Logan Ice - 2nd round in 2016, Rivera - 6th round 2017 and Lopez in 13th round, Naylor 1st round 2018 and Lavastida 15th round 2018 but nothing significant since. This is why they are in this mess as they started to focus on catchers from their International signings.

I'd put him on that list.. for 58/62 or, if he slips for any reason.. 92 (highly unlikely)....

MLB has him as their 70th ranked prospect, I don't know if he will last until 58/62 though. Though I feel at 23, that might be too soon...
