Hard Knocks

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Damn, I thought people were overselling how bad this was.....they might have been underselling.

I'll be honest, I watched that and thought "God damn, our fan base has a whole truck load of grown ass people dressed in dumb outfits". :chuckle:

Hopefully the series will be better than the trailer.

So I just watched that after I read your post. Holy shit that was embarrassing.

I dunno. It was a little silly - the chosen narrative of 'Browns fans as eternal optimists' is highly inaccurate. There are some out there but that might have been valid like 5-10 years ago. I don't think the NFL or HBO or the Browns really want the true story: that a huge swath of the fan base is jaded and cynical from nearly 20 years of failure and in particular the worst 2 seasons of football played in the modern era.

It's lazy, but I'd expect that from a trailer for a show that is probably on cruise control somewhat.

Meh, It’s not that bad. Only thing that seems odd is people actually thinking we are “turning it around” this year. Unless that means 4 wins.

I think we win 5 or 6, but still agree with point overall

I was thinking about it.
And I don't agree with the asseration of Browns fans being pessimists by nature.

Because that is the attitude every training camp. Generally fans will talk themselves into cheering on the team, thinking that things will be better, that the turn around will happen.

Does that happen? No. But from until the point we take some random person in the draft until the first game where we get beat by the Steelers? People are generally optimisic and drunk on unrealistic expectations.
If this team were full of the people that everyone in this thread is describing? They'd have left town without a fight and no one would care.

I say this as someone who thinks that we're going to be lucky to win 4 games this year. I say this as someone who is quite hesistant about Mayfield at times. Who cringed when they announced his name.

Doesn't matter. I am the stupid idiot in the dog mask. So are you. That clip is us. Whether you like to admit it or not.

Sorry.

OMG, fans being irrational and excited?! No freaking way!

Name a fanbase and I'll find you people dressing the part; 32 fanbases. This stuff isn't unique.

Like one of my closest friends who got me completely and totally wasted for the first time sent me the "Hard Knocks" clip ya'll are bitching about. (Guy was with me AT GAME 7 and is in the "Believeland" clip with me).

My dad who rips on the team all the time literally would get anxious about the possibility about missing the first pre-season game. I have memories of this growing up. (He still does this btw.)

We are those fans. Own it.

I mean, the potential alone offensively is enough for any other fan base to be thrilled and excited. But as Browns fans, we aren't really allowed to be positive and actually have a good outlook on the upcoming season.

I get the other side.. The franchise has been so bad, peak bad the last two seasons.. Why should we believe a team that has 1 single victory in two damn years can win 7-8 games the next year and turn it around.

But I think you can get the majority of people to agree that this team isn't as bad as the record shows. I think the pieces the team had in place were good start points on a rebuild.

You added elite offensive threats. Landry is one of the best at his position, all while adding in Josh Gordon - whom you haven't really had the last two seasons, can be one of the best in the business as well. Toss in Corey Coleman, who despite one dropped pass against the Steelers last season to clinch 0-16, is capable of being a great receiver. Now he is the third option, along with a explosive tightend in David Njoku.

All those weapons, with a solid line and a trio of running backs who can definitely produce, guys who compliment each other rather well.

And finally, you have two quarterbacks who can lead. Tyrod Taylor will succeed. He has all this weapons, the most he's ever had in his career - and he's succeeded with far less talent. Now he's got top talent, maybe even more incoming(Dez Bryant), and a chance to earn himself a big payday. Thus the stars are aligning for this team to have a surprising record just based off talent alone from that offense.

They will have a ton of issues early on.. They will likely struggle on defense as they get to find their identity. But the talent is there, too. Myles Garrett is a once in the life time talent, he's going to lead that defense pretty well.

I don't know.. Maybe I'm bias. But, I just feel confident finally this football team will surprise some, or all and win some football games.

4 wins would be considered a down year and disappointment in my eyes. Yes, 4 wins is far better than zero or one... But that shouldn't be our measuring stick for success.

We shall see.. But, I'm feeling it this year hard for this team. Just love the additions. Love the vibe they got right now.

I am not THOSE fans.

It's cool if you are, but fall-over drunk and dressed up is not my thing. Just fall-over drunk.

A few? I mean, sure....but it seems like this has become more of a thing with the Browns fanbase specifically...It's a glorified fashion show now tailgating.

Back in the day, it was maybe some dog themed stuff, fine.....now it's assholes in pumpkin heads? captain america outfits? macho man?
