Hard Knocks

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Felt like a lot of filler in the first half of the episode. Coverage of the fight between Landry and Randall seemed to drag - repeated angles of it even.

But without question, the highlight of this one was the lead up to the game, great song, montage shots of guys arriving and getting ready, and then audio of "Made Man" Tony Rizzo saying how the team keeps saying they expect Gordon to be back, but "I don't". Smash cut to a "Meanwhile" graphic and Gordon is picking up his luggage at Hopkins.

Now I know virtually every radio guy in town was saying basically the same thing. But I'd like to think they chose known a-hole radio clown Rizzo to look like a jackass in this sequence on purpose.

Well he was pretty wide open consistently so. Also Romo never had a problem hitting him on the numbers.

Dak is not good.

Hillarious hot take here. Let's revisit this mid-year if Dak has a healthy line.

Also, Romo was elite. Dak is in his 3rd year and started on a playoff team as a rookie when he was labeled in the draft as a back up or long term project.

Dak wasn't great last year, but that doesn't mean Dez was. He wasn't even good. He wasn't average. Dude stopped running routes and mailed it in during a year where the team desperately needed a playmaker to step up. He was outplayed by Cole freaking Beasley.

Anyway, not sure this is the right thread for an autopsy on last year's Dallas Cowboys.

I guess I was the only one that thought the OL coach was a joke. If I'm an athlete and I see that guy waddling over to show me something, I think, "How's this guy going to know what he's talking about? He probably hasn't seen his dick since Bernie was QB."

I think Dez is using us as a chip to get someone to come out and pay him more.

otherwise I think he'd have signed by now.

This could be true, but I don't think he's using the Browns as leverage. He hasn't even had any other meetings lined up. I believe he does want to sign here.. But he wants to get paid as well.

I think he's looking to get paid top dollar for a 1-year deal, Browns can pay it forward but they're likely balking at the moment.

Really makes too much sense for Bryant to sign here. He needs a full season to prove himself and get paid elsewhere(maybe here, too).

He won't find a better place, honestly. The main contenders aren't calling.

I see, by the way, elemants of a "turnaround" but they're still in their very early stages. I kinda half agree with Alonzo Smith there.
  • Clearly Landry is a leader within this team and seems to have commanded as such.
  • Gordon is a quiet dude. He reminds me of a world where Ricky Williams was a reciever.
  • Hue at times...feels a bit off. I can see him surviving this season, but I can see them cutting bait mid-way next season.
  • Their next head coach is clearly on staff (Haley). I think their DC is already there as well.
  • People get mad at nassib, but I legit get a physically intimidating presence from him. Which is good.
  • I still prefer see Baker chilling on the bench, running scout team during the week and in that general situation. He looks like he has potential but there is no need to rush.
  • Also seeing Josh Cribbs on the sidelines is cool and good. Love that due.

I am debating how successful he would be, but at the very least? I can safely say that the Browns are not skimping on the position like in years past.

The shere lack of investment in that position over the years has been embarrassing. There would be times when they would have players like Julio Jones staring right back at them and they would balk.

would this hypothetically "Hurt" or 'help" a Josh Gordon btw? It feels like in some ways it would lessen the pressure and take that off of him while he really tries to come back from what's happening to him.

I don’t think it’s that deep. He just wants the most money he can get. he probably has a number in mind and we didn’t come close to it.

Landry got into it with Terrence Mitchell, not Randall.

Love the Rizzo snub, however. There was a lot of Hammer, however.

Thanks. As I was typing it I thought it was wrong because why would Landry be working 1 on 1 so much against our free safety. Couldn't remember the other guys name though.

I actually got goosebumps with that first Gordon footage and the lead-up to game time. I'm a total mark, I know.

Clearly Haley is not, since all he ever asks is if he's been working out. I'm like, 'Toad, do you even follow him on Instagram?
