Lots of interesting tid bits from Steve, as usual.

A couple of note:

* Thad Gibson is not going to pass OSU's stringent academic standards. As nice as it is having increased academic standards with JT and especially Holbrook, I'm getting really fucking sick of watching some of Ohio's top talent go elsewhere b/c they can't get through OSU's clearing house. MSU's been cleaning up on these kids: see Javon Ringer and a host of other studs we had to let go. Now add Thad, the #6 lb in the nation, number 1 or 2 overall in ohio, a future NFL linebacker, to that list. Fucking shit!

* This I liked to read:

Have you been impressed with Pittman so far? He seems to be improving as the season wears on.

SteveHelwagen (Oct 27, 2005 1:58:30 PM)
Oh my yes. He's finishing plays much better, falling forward. You think about what passed for TB play here the last two years and this isn't even a funny joke how much better this kid is than what they've had since Reecie left. He's averaged over 100 yards in the 4 Big Ten games. That says it all. He is coming into his own. Heck, he's even been a threat catching the ball, too. He's getting there. He and Chris Wells could be a thunder and lightning combo next year.
The kids just a sophomore and should only get better. Keep in mind that Eddie didn't look nearly this good till his senior year. If he keeps improving he should be special.

* On our shot at the BCS:

How does the BCS determine who goes to the bowl game if say OSU and Wisconsin are tied with 1 conference loss apiece?

SteveHelwagen (Oct 27, 2005 2:01:34 PM)
Because they did not play, it goes to better overall record. Wisconsin would be 10-1 (with nonconf wins over BG, UNC and Temple), while OSU would be 9-2. Basically, OSU has to win the Big Ten outright to get the BCS automatic bid. They would lose tiebreakers to PSU (head to head loss) and Wisconsin (overall record). Then, if that happens, they would have only a minute chance of getting a BCS at-large berth with so many potential one-loss teams and a possible 9-2 Notre Dame out there. If they don't win Big Ten outright, looks like Cap One in Orlando ...

* This fucking sucks:

I caught all holy hell for pointing out that next year you graduate your defense and go to Texas. In 2007, you have a new QB and go to Wash., PSU and UM. In 2008, you go to USC. In 2009, you have USC at home and are supposed to go to Wash. State, PSU and UM. Those are tall mountains to scale ...

* Never thought about this one before. Interesting:

Why does JT convince himself and everybody else that road games are ridiculously difficult. He should embrace that challenge like he does the Michigan challenge. I don't get that one. It's worse that Tiger playing at Pebble Beach.
