Long time lurker...first time poster...

How long will we continue to talk about LeBron in Cavs Talk? Will we be eventually be moving these threads to the "Around the NBA" section?

Like the phrase from Hoosiers when everyone was cheering for Jimmy:

"I would hope that we would cheer for who we are, not who we aren't."

I love this site and would like to see more threads discussing the actual team that we DO have. Just a suggestion. Feel free to delete if I'm out of line -- but I imagine other people feel the same way.

Thanks!

It's still kind of a big deal.

It'll eventually die down, but as long as it's an issue directly related to the Cavs, things will remain in Cavs Talk I'm sure.

Until we get it all out of our system. Judging by the hatred still directed towards Art Modell on a daily basis, this should be around 2061.

Cool -- I still hate him too...and I'm not trying to tell people how to run this forum.

I'm just saying...he's not a Cav anymore -- at what point do we need to start actually talking about Cavs in Cavs Talk?

I don't know. This is a forum for Cavaliers fans to interact with each other and converse about whatever they are interested in at the time. I'm positive that when something interesting happens with the Cavaliers and their basketball team (such as the summer league or more trade rumors), the talk will shift over to that slowly, at least for the team-centric members of this board. In the meantime, people are interested in one of the biggest sports debacles this century, so they'll discuss it.

From what Ive observed, most threads that include LeBron also include Windy and Gilbert, who should be considered part of the team. So technically it could still be called Cavs Talk.

I agree, we should open a Lebron section for the next 6 months or so. No point talking about him in cavs talk imo. Those that want to say their peace for a bit should be allowed, but there should be his own section.

I kind of agree and disagree at the same time. Let's meet half way.

A permanent sticky at the top of the page: "All things Queen James - for the grieving process, burning purposes, and group therapy sessions."

It cleans up some of the constant LeBron James threads that you feel are cluttering the place up, while giving everyone a commonplace to discuss the royal prick, himself.

It's only been 4 days now. It will slowly die down as time passes. Right now there's not much else to talk about at this point in the offseason. It also is a pretty big issue in the history of the franchise and the circumstances behind it are ones that would provoke continued anger.

Part of me does want to move on but it's tough for now since to be honest everything with the team has revolved around LeFraud in recent seasons and now that centerpiece who many expected would still be here took off.

The anger is still raw right now and that display Friday in Miami didn't nothing to lessen it.

While were at this standpoint on ______, how about we censor his goddamn name. Im tired of seeing ______ on my screen in a CAVS related site. Please.

I was just thinking this last night actually. At this point, I come on here to see possible new info about what we are doing to improve/add to our team, and what the front office is thinking about doing.

And yet, basically more than half of the info on here is still about LeBron, which sucks. I don't want to read a stupid interview with James talking about Miami, or about Gilbert, or about anything. He's gone, he's an idiot, can we please stop talking about him? If you want to hear about LeBron just turn on ESPN and you will hear something in less than 3 minutes. Now whats happening with the actual team we have? You know...the Cleveland Cavaliers....That would be great to know...

I figure and hope it dies down right around the same time the Cavs make a few moves with some trades.

I was really hopeful of the Childress and Williams rumors just because it brought something different up to discuss. I know, a move to just make a move is wrong.

Hey, just remembered, our summer league games start tomorrow, so maybe discussions will take detour away from "Dingleberry" and focus it towards that.

Ohhh yeah baby! Lets go Eyenga!!!!

My take: opening night of the regular season. That's when the team will officially move on, and that's when we should too.

How long will we continue to talk about LeBron in Cavs Talk?

The Mods haven't discussed it, but I expect that threads will continue to be judged on a case-by-case basis. Since everything about his departure is so fresh, latitude has been given to certain types of threads, as there are many posters reading, speculating, and posting on them. Eventually, some will be moved elsewhere when the time seems "right". It may not seem like it due to so much recent activity, but we have moved/deleted a lot of threads.

Will we be eventually be moving these threads to the "Around the NBA" section?

Yes, we're already moving threads that have to do with the new Heat, Heat transactions, salary cap speculation, and so forth to other forums. Some LeBron-specific threads are active in CavsTalk now, and eventually they may go to Off-Topic or Around the NBA. Or just fade out.

New threads will appear regarding LeBron during his time with the Cavs, and those threads will likely be posted to Cavs Talk. I'm talking about further exposés by Windhorst or other reporters, any further follow-up interviews with Gilbert/etc. That sort of thing. Anything that has to do with the Cavs, past or present, is going to stay in Cavs Talk, and some of it inevitably will deal with LeBron.

But the concentration of threads about LeBron will decrease, especially as Summer League starts and the Cavs make some moves. And, like the Cavs themselves, the focus on the past will be replaced by interest in the present and the future.
