Hue Jackson and Todd Haley Fired

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The reality is that Dorsey wanted nothing to do with Jackson. The mandate to keep him came from a low-IQ owner forcing a marriage.

So, Dorsey will play along. However, if you don’t think Dorsey has reached out to McKenzie regarding Hue Jackson, you’d be crazy.
If this is true then it’s even more discouraging

That’s just not how successful franchises are run. Not even close. The idea of a forced marriage and having to wait a year to fire someone you never liked in the first place as a GM

Man that’s just not what good teams do

This is just a personal belief based on what little we know, but I think Haslam wanted to give Hue that third year to eradicate public perception that he’s an impatient owner.

But I don’t know. Maybe before Dorsey took the job he agreed that Hue deserved a season to show progress with a clear plan with an injection of talent and a proven offensive coordinator. I just struggle with believing it. Dorsey has a perfectly solid track record, and I’m incredulous he’s cool with a guy that just open/publicly bashed players and demonstrates absolutely no level of self-accountability.

I think your first paragraph is dead-on.

The thing about Dorsey is, Hue Jackson is a safety net for him. If things go poorly this coming season, it's likely going to be Hue's head that rolls. It'll partly be because of what you say in your first paragraph. How can you fire a respected GM after one year? You can't.

Hue is basically Dorsey's insurance in 2019.

It doesn't bode well for 2018, but at least it's a positive moving forward. Hope for them to flop early so we get rid of Hue by the bye week.

Bingo.

I don't care much about Jackson one way or the other. He'll either start winning with all the new additions or he'll get fired. I'm just glad to see we have experienced, proven coordinators. Hopefully with improved defensive backs Williams can make his aggressive schemes work properly. Hopefully the new OC will bring some winning traits to the offensive side of the ball. If not it will be a no-brainer to fire Jackson. But if they win any respectable number of games and establish themselves on a glide path towards success then I surely don't want to hear people who disavow the whole team stick around and whine. If we lose then those folks will get their wish and Hue will be gone, but if we win those people need to either get on board or just stay out of the Browns discussions, either in or out.

At least he will be swimming with the algea blooms. You couldn't pay me to swim in that.

The First 2018 Lake Erie Algal Bloom Forecast is Here, and It's Not Pretty

A nasty green algae bloom is certain to hit the shallowest of the Great Lakes once more this summer, scientists confirm. But the depth of the problem is uncertain.

Today, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and National Center for Water Quality Research released its first forecast for the year, indicating that they don't know a whole hell of a lot yet.

"Because the forecast uses modeled discharge for two months, there is a large uncertainty in bloom severity," forecasters admitted in a release.

So far, according to the researchers, heavy precipitation in April have led to farm runoff leaving high phosphorus levels in the Maumee River, which runs directly into Lake Erie.

"The phosphorus load to date is sufficient for some bloom to occur, however, the uncertainty is quite large," forecasters said.

As major rain events are not predicted for the upcoming weeks, it's hard to conclude if this year's algal bloom will be larger than last summer's, the third worst on record.

A final seasonal forecast taking place in July should offer a far more accurate indication of what could lie beneath Lake Erie's surface this summer.

How’s the walleye fishing been the past couple years?

Right. Because he fired Sashi, the decision to fire Hue would clearly have been Haslam's as well. But now that he's got a respected guy as GM, Haslam can let it be Dorsey's decision as to whether or not Hue gets fired after -- or maybe even during -- the season. So it will no longer be a case of "impatient Haslam fires another coach".

good hatches the past few years. plenty last year number wise, but a lot under keeper size. going to be a great '18 season.

I do miss walleye. Best tasting fish.

Not too thrilled about the fishing opportunities in the Bay Area.

Lousy arid wasteland.

Yes. Reluctantly.

Bay Area sucks compared to Seattle though ok compared to most other places I’ve lived in the US.

Mossback for life.

If anyone is interested, I plan on going swimming a few weeks later too.

Hopefully you aren't living in a 500 sq ft studio for $5000 a month.
