If I were coaching the Cavs I would probably set a record for quickest NBA coach to get fired.

Lebron would undoubtdly see to that but would be joined by others as well.

I don't think LBJ would take to it very well when I suggest to him that from 30 feet from the basket he's well above average, but not really all star material.

From 15 feet in he can be the most devastating force in the game, maybe the most devastating ever.

I presume he likes that double high screen which puts the ball in his hands for most of the 24 seconds while the rest of the team becomes basically useless except for setting picks or standing still in the corner praying for the cross court pass.

Otherwise he would suggest the team do something else in the fourth quarter.
No doubt his suggestions carry a lot of wait.

Sorry, that play would be used somewhere betwen seldom and never.

Much easier to box in Lebron when he gets the ball standing still on the perimeter than when he receives a pass on the move.

Don't know if he'd be happy or not to learn that except in special occasions he would be limited to about 38 minutes a night.

There are enough weapons on this team so that with good offensive combos on the floor when he is out they should not come apart when he's sitting out five minutes per half.

I think he would find he has more of the explosiveness which makes him a great player left in his tank during the final minutes of the game when most are decided.

I would also ask the front office to do away with contracts which offer bonuses for games started.

I would pay a lot more attention to matchups. Eric Snow is invaluable guarding certain players, useless against others. Against certain teams the combination of Z and Andy is the best one.

It's nonsense to simply send out the same starters every game because, well, just because. And if a sub has a hot second quarter I'd leave him out there to start the third and see if he can keep it up.

At all times, ride the hot player or hot combo as far as they will take you.

It's not traditional. Certain starters may resent this fiercely. But if they see that while they may not start and only get 12 or 15 minutes in some games, they may get 40 in others if they're having a hot night they might come to accept it.

It will probably average out to about the same number of minutes, minutes in the situations where they are most likely to succeed.

Okay, 66 year old Coach Bob isn't going to be hired. But I do believe some of those ideas would make the Cavs a better team.

What do you think?

Oh really ?

Hey Bob-

Can you give me your thoughts on Gibson and what you like and dislike about him...

I really enjoy your posts, and I look forward to your thoughts..

-Thanks

Lebron has had to accept the role of point guard and playmaker by default, because Eric Snow and Damon Jones are worse not because Lebron is good at it.

But, by not having a playmaking point we are stifling Lebron's offensive potential, and the rest of the team as well.

Hopefully between Daniel Gibson and a forthcoming addition before the trading deadline this issue will be a distant memory by season's end.

We can still end up as conference champions, but, we need to get the PG situation rectified.
