Only a matter of time before Dion starts whining about coming off the bench, all this fuss for a sixth man isn't worth it IMHO... Sumpert would help our defense exponentially more and he is shooting 59 percent from three, much better catch and shoot guard who can play in crunch time without taking stupid shots...
Iman Shumpert would immediately become our best perimeter defender BY A MILE AND HE IS A MUCH BETTER CATCH AND SHOOT player than Dion... He also can play the one, two or three.. Shumpert is the perfect complement for this team and Dion is the opposite.. Would do the trade in a heartbeat....
Shumpert doesn't require anyone to creat his own shots, he had seven assists last night and can play the one, two or three...I would take his defense In crunch time over Dion's even though Dion is an underrated defender...
Shumpert is shooting 59 percent on catch and shoot shots this far and 66 percent from 3 point range.. Not sustainable obviously but better than Dion thus far (very small sample size)....I've seen some dumb stuff in here over the past 3 years, but pining for a worse catch and shoot 3 point shooter than Dion when we can't even utilize catch and shoot players right now the way our offense is running as a trade target after 5 whole games is up there.
Who can also create shots for other players and play good, maybe even great perimeter defense which is what we really need more than another playmaker anyway with Dellavadova, (the best perimeter defender we had) out..So he's a big-time catch and shoot player who doesn't rely on anyone else to create his shot.
That's....interesting.
Dalembert and Shump for the Dion and the TPE.
Knicks are stinking it up right now and both those guys are FA after this year. They can net some savings this year and pick up Dion who could be good for them, although Dion and JR Smith on the same team is somewhat amusing. We get a couple of guys who can play defense at the 2 and 5, which we need desperately.
I actually like Amundson on the deep bench. You'll never have to worry about him being problem on the bench or playing hard when he does get put into the games. Using the TPE on a trade like this seems like the perfect use for it.how about Dalembert and Shump for Dion and Amundson? then you could still use the TPE on a veteran player some rebuilding team (/team with a high payroll) wants to get rid of. you might even be able to squeeze out a pick (see the Memphis trade). talking about revamping the bench overnight...
