Jeff Green: Old

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Green is perfect on the 2nd team... he has proven in his career that he is mediocre as a starter and thriving now on the bench squad (probably because hes playing against lesser talent than starters of the opponent)... hopefully he stays within himself, he is at his best when he doesn't need to dribble much (just cutting, lobs or transition) and just use his athleticism... its when he tries to iso/postup that he gets his Javalle moments...

I like him in the post. Especially against smaller guys when they try to put a wing on him. He's excelled! I think he's our version of Shaun Livingston.

Green plays at his best when he plays within himself, and that means either with LBJ (especially), or with Wade and a good bench lineup. You do not want the guy thinking it's his job to be "the man" at any point. But when he plays within himself, he's a big positive.

This may the first place where he's been asked to play to his actual ability, not to the hype. This season has been Green's highest assists/48, highest OBPM, and highest WS/48, of his entire career.

An absolute steal for a vet-min contract.

Thats the key, postup only on mismatches and try not to do too much... he doesn't seem to do good when posting up same sized opponents... He's a great athlete but skill level is not that high for NBA standards, that is why I also like him on the bench squad, he does so much better against the bench of the other squad, specially if he is playing with a good passer and he doesn't have yo create... for the vet min, the Cavs is getting great value from him...

The great thing about his numbers is that, it isn't like he is just having an outlier 25 games where he is shooting 50% from three and you know a big dip is coming. He is actually under his career three-point percentage (33%). In fact, I'm thinking as he gets more comfortable here and with the addition of an actual PG soon who can get us in and out of offensive sets, his overall numbers could take a leap.

He is exactly what the doctor ordered... an athletic wing who isn't physically past his prime and breaking down, and a guy who understands the game and can play within himself. He is also really good in transition, great at drawing contact and a really good FT shooter.

I will always have love for RJ and what he did for our team in 2016-17 as an over-the-hill vet who still had enough basketball smarts and athleticism to be an on-court contributor against the best team maybe ever... but Jeff Green is a huge upgrade in that role and it is going to pay dividends against the best teams.

Getting him for the minimum was borderline trick-thievery by Altman.

He really shows how much this team has needed long athletic wings with a reasonable even if not great skill set. He's the same player he's always been but the space opened up on the court by our three point shooting, Lebron, etc. has let him feast on easy offensive opportunities. And as others have said, he's not being expected to do too much.

He caught a length of the floor pass running full speed, took no dribbles, jumped off the wrong foot a step inside the free throw line, and dunked it one handed while getting fouled.

How the hell is he doing that at 31???
