Brother: Garland went 8 for 22 and couldn’t hit water out of a boat in OT.

23 points on 22 shots: red hot!
So on a night where he has 7 made 3s, we’re going to yolo sub Sam Merrill in for Darius Garland in overtime or double overtime.

Brother, it’s not NBA2K. Sometimes the other guys just play better.

It’s considered NBA2K to want the coach to find minutes for the team’s best shooter?

The "I told you so" are going to rain down after the first round of the playoffs. I'm hoping it's against me, but my expectation is the complaining I have been doing for two and a half seasons will feel justified. This team has too much talent to waste it on a treadmill coach.

It’s considered NBA 2K to suggest Sam Merrill is gonna come in for Darius Garland in overtime and double overtime in a game where Darius Garland is the team’s second leading scorer with 7 made 3s of his own.

I would have liked to see more (any) of Wade or Okoro in lieu of Max / Caris in 2OT.

But I concede it would have been hard as hell to place them. Caris played well, Garland was mostly positive, Max is pretty damn reliable, and DM is DM. I just think their fresher legs would have been beneficial.

Oh well, hindsight. Was glad Wade played over Niang in the second half.

Genuinely thought we might be held to a goose egg in that 2nd OT for a time there.

I just don't see how you can close games with Mobley and Allen together against playoff caliber competition. You need to create space for your two undersized guards to operate and that will not happen with these guys out there being no threat outside the paint.

It's not a coincidence that so many of our late possessions are disjointed and end up in panicked 3s or haphazard drives into traffic.

Who “clanked all their shots”?

Garland was red hot all game long. Mitchell didn’t take many. Strus didn’t either. Mobley looked great.

Wade took two shots in 14 minutes. Was Dean Wade going to keep Drummond or Vuc off the glass?

Whose minutes does Merrill take tonight? LeVert and Okoro were both tremendous. There’s nobody else for him to take minutes from because he plays one position.

The only starter who looked bad all night was Allen. Sam Merrill doesn’t fit that bill.
It’s 2024. The way you punish a team for playing Vuc & Drummond is to put a bunch of shooters on the floor and destroy them from the 3 point line. They can’t cover out there and they can’t rebound 23 ft from the basket. To try to match size for size plays right into their hands. I absolutely would have had Merrill and Wade out there and said “good luck running your big asses all over the floor chasing guys off the 3 point line on the second of a b2b”. When you see 2 centers with 39 boards between them, it tells you they didn’t leave the lane all night.

I stand up for JB a lot, but he isn’t getting the benefit tonight. The major difference here is that the Cavs have a very deep and talented bench. Absolutely no reason not to give Wade more burn and get Merrill into the game instead of watching our dead legged starters clank all of their shots.
Here's the thing: The Bulls played the same heavy minutes for their guys, and also were coming off a back-to-back and were still able to execute down the stretch to win the game..

The difference is, the Bulls had no choice with the injuries they have... However, JBB had a choice and chose against utilizing his depth advantage..

This guy is holding the team back
I try to give JBB the benefit of the doubt, but have always felt like he's able to do more with less and less with more..

When this team has been fully healthy it's seemed like a bus driver trying to drive a formula one car..
