Wait what: assistant coaches have agreements that they will be given a certain of amount of time as the new head coach if the current head coach is fired.
That is some serious WTF contracting right there: all sorts of negative incentives there
Can still be fired regardless of what the contract states. Likely makes it so he's not a lame duck coach. Nothing can actually prevent him from being fired though. If it's in the contract he can't be fired then he got the best contract ever.
Many have bought into the narrative that Bickerstaff is a schmuck, and I'm just not sure where it's coming from.
He took over as the Rockets' interim HC in 2015, and led them to the playoffs.
He took over as the Grizzlies' interim HC in 2017, they ended up 22-60 on the season, and then they increased their wins by double digits in 2018-19, going 33-49.
Not saying that the guy is going to be the next Phil Jackson, but his track record is nowhere near as awful as some are making it seem.
Stotts in Portland didn’t have a good track record before the Blazers but he is doing good considering all the circumstances over the years and being in the West. Maybe it takes a couple gigs and a better situation. Here’s to hoping for the best...got no other choiceMany have bought into the narrative that Bickerstaff is a schmuck, and I'm just not sure where it's coming from.
