Josh Gordon discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Browns wanting 2nd round pick for Gordon. Niners interested?

I'd take those four and:

Larry Fitzgerald
Brandon Marshall
Dez Bryant
Andre Johnson
Eric Decker
Wes Welker
Jordy Nelson

I think Gordon, Smith, Cobb and Alshon Jeffrey are right in that next tier of up an comers

You would take all those veteran receivers, over a very young and untapped potential receiver in Gordon?

Some of those guys are better right now, but there's no way if I'm a GM, I'd rather have them going forward than Gordon (given he gets his act together).

Dez Bryant is serious headcase/suspension waiting to happen too. I personally like Gordon's upside more.

I would take Gordon definitely over Welker. The guy is good, but he didn't do much of anything in the league until he played with Tom Brady and now Peyton Manning.

Gordon definitely doesn't have a QB like that throwing him the ball. If he teamed up with Brady, or Peyton, you'd quickly change your mind how good he is compared to Welker.

Re: Browns wanting 2nd round pick for Gordon. Niners interested?

Guys are throwing around terms like phenomenal and great quite a bit.

I wish the Top 3-5 WR talk would slow down, he's got a ton of growing to do before that even becomes remotely possible.

I base my comments on two things: potential & this shit list

Darrin Chiaverini
Leslie Shepherd
Mark Campbell
Kevin Johnson
David Patten
Dennis Northcutt
Quincy Morgan
JaJuan Dawson
Antonio Bryant
Andre' Davis
Frisman Jackson
Aaron Shea
Joe Jurevicius
Syndric Steptoe
Donte Stallworth
Josh Cribbs
Mohamed Massaquoi
Chansi Stuckey
Evan Moore
Robert Royal
Braylon Edwards
Brian Robiskie
Jordan Norwood
Josh Cooper
Greg Little (still holding onto hope)

...and the mysterious Carlton Mitchell

Re: Browns wanting 2nd round pick for Gordon. Niners interested?

I think an argument could be made that Gordon is better than Andre Johnson at this point, too.

Gordon is a maybe top ten WR. But it's easy to see him become in the best in the NFL at some point if he lives up to his physical potential.

Hey now, Jurevicius belongs on no shit list.

I agree with the rest though.

Re: Browns wanting 2nd round pick for Gordon. Niners interested?

If you were starting from scratch, building a team from the ground up, you'd pick Welker, Jordy Nelson, and Eric Decker ahead of Josh Gordon? Be my guest, but your team won't be very sustainable.
Racist.

In that scenario, it might even be a stretch to say Fitzgerald or Andre Johnson should be picked ahead of Gordon. These are two guys on the wrong side of 30.

Did not really take age into consideration, but even then I'll still take Nelson and Decker. They're not as talented, but I'd put solid money on them to stay more productive.

Say what you will about playing with Manning or Brady, but they're better than Gordon because of incredibly good route running and more consistent hands.

Unfortunately it's not a given he gets his act together, and I'll take the reliable route runners and consistent hands everytime when building a team.

I don't see how Gordan and Bryant are that close, the latter is far more aggressive and consistent getting separation and reliable effort.

How dare you.

Kevin Johnson and Jurevicius have no reason on that list

Re: Browns wanting 2nd round pick for Gordon. Niners interested?

KJ put up 986 yards and 8 TDs his rookie season, then followed it up two years later with 1,097 and 9 TDs

He's in his second year. Most young receivers are pretty shitty route runners. If we're talking RIGHT NOW, I can give you the edge in saying guys like Nelson and Welker are more "polished". Don't disagree at all with that. Gordon definitely has much better game breaking speed, and is more of a game plan disrupt player waiting to happen.

And it definitely makes a significant difference playing with QB's like Rodgers, Manning, and Brady. Those guys always get their guys in the right position, to make a big time play. Everyone around them comes out much better football players.

Going forward, its not even close. You'd really take Gordon over Welker? Welker will probably retire in 3 years.

Re: Browns wanting 2nd round pick for Gordon. Niners interested?

Dez Bryant is serious headcase/suspension waiting to happen too. I personally like Gordon's upside more.

Dez Bryant isn't a serious headcase btw. Did he get into some off the field stuff last offseason yes but he's much more mature now and hasn't done anything in over a season (21 games) to warrant any kind of suspension. Plus he has never been suspended before unlike Gordon. Dez's upside is much higher than Gordon's! Do you realize that in the second half of last year Dez had 879 yards and 10 TD's! He was on a complete tear and this year he already has 6 TD's and is one behind Welker for the league lead.

You're arguing apples to oranges. I said going forward I'd take him over Dez. Right now, sure Dez is the better of the two (more experienced after all) but its not as far as you think. As a rookie alone Gordon was more impressive than Dez's rookie season. He's averaging a ridiculous 16 yards per reception. Did that his rookie year, is up to near 17 already this season! Dez has never done that in his career thus far.

Gordon is a ridiculous talent. I have no idea why you'd seriously think his upside is that much better, when Gordon's production thus far, is actually been more impressive than Dez' going by comparison early on in their careers.

Dez' rookie season 45 receptions, just 561 yards. Gordon 50 receptions, 805 yards! That's not even close.

Gordon has all the tools, skills, speed, and even bigger size than Dez to be better. What does Dez have that's so much more superior to Gordon as a talent? Dez can be a really crappy route runner at times, and is often experiencing a disconnect with his QB. Focus much like Gordon has been a problem at times.

Re: Browns wanting 2nd round pick for Gordon. Niners interested?

A lot of Cleveland homerism going on right now. Gordon doesn't compete for the ball like the top 5 receivers do yet, but I can see him developing into a top 10 WR. Makes the position look so effortless, love his talent.

I hate the Cowboys and Dez Bryant is probably a punk, but he does shit on the field that is so utterly amazing. He's my #2 receiver in the league by far.
