As a response to all the "Why is JR Smith still starting?" threads.

It's possible the Cavs have decided several weeks ago that JR Smith needs to be replaced, and that they want to look at the trade market to do it (which they seem to be doing now).

If that's the case - it doesn't make sense to bump Wade or Korver into the starting rotation, just to move them back out three weeks from now.

We've already had way too much turnover this year for a team trying to win it all - no need to mess up the backup rotations temporarily if you know somebody else will come in to start.

i was wondering why Korver wasnt starting a month ago, and the month before that... Will probably be wondering the same thing in 2 months.

Korver will be 37 by the time the playoffs roll around. He'd get completely toasted as a starter, but is still very capable as a backup. It's got to be someone else.

The only two other players who potentially can start at the 2 are Wade and Cedi.

When you want to move someone, you don’t demote them, you try to showcase their abilities the best you can.
I agree with your assessment, they won’t make a change until after the trade deadline.

I think you're completely right about this. It's not the normal "let's showcase the guy to try to max out what we can get for him", because he stinks, and showcasing him is just going to highlight that. They just don't want to disrupt the rest of the rotation.

I think it's pretty obvious they're looking for a starting quality 2 guard. But if they don't manage to acquire one, then either Wade or Cedi is going to be moved into the starting lineup as a fallback strategy. But they don't want to do that unless they can't acquire anyone else, so they're waiting until the trade deadline to make that move.

I'm bewildered by people who think starting Kyle Korver is a solution. Did those people watch the Finals last year? Or were they so traumatized by it that they wiped Korver's performance out of their memory?

JR is #3 on my list. #1 is Lue, #2 is TT (Lue is #1 because he keeps giving TT and JR serious minutes)
