So, are we to say that pretty much the only thing that rendered Love a waste against the Warriors is because he lacked the "confidence" that he has this year?!?!

And a pretty severe concussion..

He was really good in Game 1 with a 17/13 statline .. never been the same after the concussion.

People tend to forget he averaged over 17 Points before the Finals last year.. then the concussion hit him.

I wonder how important that last minute stop on Curry in game 7 is to his improvements on defense this year? It is easy to become comfortable with not working hard on defense because you are so valuable on offense. But that stop last year showed himself that he has the skills to do it, he just needs to commit himself to it. And he has. GS added Durant this year, Cleveland added MechaLove who is showing the skills on offense from his Minnesota days while playing defense at a high level. Without his improvement they would have little chance in the Finals. But if this version of Kevin Love shows up against the Warriors, it should be one epic fight.

Also had a lot to do with him getting in such great shape last off season and obviously highly increasing his mobility especially laterally.

Dude was a 20-10 machine and a legit all star before missing a month because of knee surgery. Maybe we let him play for more than two weeks before suddenly deciding he's no longer worth it.

I attribute Love's defensive improvement to this... he has studied so many game tapes of himself getting stripped and blocked the last 2 years, it finally clicked with him that he could be doing this to other players.

Since he's come here, he's always been a solid defender as long as he's not in the pick and roll.

The only thing that's changed is people's perception... And the occasional weak dude play. He didn't do that before

Has anyone pointed out that the Cavs have started to run a 4-5 screen and roll with Love and Thompson? Ran that play twice to start game 5 of the Celtics series. You can't tell me they're not doing that with GS specifically in mind.

I honestly can't remember them EVER trying a play like that.

Cleveland Cavaliers power forward Kevin Love and head coach Tyronn Lue welcomed the challenge Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green laid down when he said he wanted to "destroy Cleveland" in the 2017 NBA Finals.

"He's one of the most competitive players in the league," Love said, per ESPN.com. "He said he wanted us. He has us, starting next Thursday."

Haha this after the mic drop last week when responding to questions about Lebron picking up four fouls in one half for first time ("he still hasn't"). Kev is a pretty sharp cat

Did anybody notice we used Love as a pick and rolls lol ball handler a few times in the Boston series to success?

We were using it a lot in game 1 when Love and Deron led the bench unit. I also noticed it a bit in games 4 and 5 (in the latter, on two straight possessions, we ran a Love/TT PnR). That may be of use against GSW's bench unit.

1. Hayward, .36 points per possession (PPP) allowed
2. KLove, .43 PPP
12. TT, .63 PPP
24. Draymond, .76 PPP

He's third in offensive spot up PPP with those playing 4+ spot up possessions per game:

1. Draymond, 1.43
2. Gordon, 1.27

He has stepped up his defense by the same incremental amount that you've stepped up your gif game
