Also this. So you're telling me they wouldn't trade Jaylen Brown for Kevin Love if they knew they could get Kemba Walker?

A Kemba-Tatum-Love big three in next year's East would be super interesting... especially if they can keep Rozier and Smart. They'd be weak in the front court, but given the sorry state of the East, the mystery that is Gordon Hayward, and Tatum's ability to develop, it would not surprise me if that team became elite quickly.

I’m not even sure how you came to this conclusion. Love is a top 5 pf/c in the league. There’s not many guys that put up his numbers on offense and it’s difficult to find a better rebounder.

Conley is top 10-15 at his position. Guards are more important at this time in the NBA, but his contract is also terrible. At least loves pay goes down every year from now on.

Conley has led teams to the playoffs. Love has not.

I dunno. I think you trade Love before he begins making trade demands. I dont thibk hes gonna troop it out forever on a shitty team when hes over 30. We'll see.
After the Channing tweet I kind of got the feeling it may have meant Love has quietly asked the organisation for a trade, but is happy to keep the peace until an arrangement is made.

Channing is a good friend of Love and has seen his name in trade rumours for years and understands the pressure that can put on a player. I don't think Channing tweets that unless Love and maybe even the cavs gave the ok.

Look, Love might get traded this offseason. I'm hopeful it doesn't happen until next offseason since Beilein's system is perfect for a power forward who thinks the game like a point guard. Provided he sees the floor about 60 games, he has the opportunity to put up the efficient numbers close to what he put up most of his career. "Trading low" now benefits the team acquiring Love.

However, I survived the Kyrie Summer of Petulence. I know trade value isn't the only influence at work.

Kevin Love may want a trade, but I definitely need to see Koby Altman earn his stripes right now. I don't think Love is going full Kyrie. If Love needs to play himself into being more valued in the league, don't rush the trade. It was Love's choice to sign on for four years instead of a LeBron or Durant style player option deal. The cost of all that guaranteed cash is honoring the contract.

What doesn't make sense to me is all the posts sabotaging Love's existing value. Whether he plays for the Cavs this year or not, what's the point of taking shots at him as the Cavs look to get as much value back as possible? Claiming he is definitely damaged goods? Why? Claiming it's his fault the Timberwolves didn't make the playoffs *cough David Kahn cough* why?

I personally see this as Altman's biggest test. He has had some modest wins as a GM... but certainly hasn't made any defining moves.

I think it’s simple. Love isn’t the type of guy to cause a fuss even if he’s already privately let Koby know he’d be interested in being moved to a contender or closer to home.

You simply set expectations for a Love deal. Whatever they may be.

Let’s hypothetically say that your ask is expiring money, a first round pick, and a young player whom your front office really likes. Perhaps as simple as that—maybe relatively close to the Conley deal. Instead of 2 firsts, you get 1 first, but a better young prospect than Grayson Allen.

If you get offered that, you make the deal this offseason. In the meantime, you tell Kevin that you’d love to have him around, but you will privately search for the right trade fit. If you don’t get offered that deal, you simply take Love into the season and continue to weigh offers through the deadline and next offseason.

You don’t deal him just to deal him, but at the same time, if your criteria is hit by a destination that Love is fine with, you don’t hesitate and continue to shop. You make the deal.

There isn’t a huge sense of urgency to force it; it either happens or it doesn’t. Love’s professionalism helps in this regard.

Maybe a bit less than 60 games. If we can get him really rolling under Beilein some team needing one more piece for a title tune might make us a sweet deal.

The time between the start of free agency and the trade deadline is critical for Koby and the franchise. We know the expirings will all be gone in a year anyway so getting assets for a couple of them and maybe Love as well could really help our rebuild.

Personally I think he's still a very good player and want to see him with the kids and new coaching but I'd also be happy with a deal that gets us value and puts him on a contender.

As usual, being a RCF is not going to be dull. Moves will be made, and the fun part is it's so early in our rebuild that we have no idea what they will be.

I’d think they’d believe they had plenty of value for Love beyond Jaylen Brown.

Hayward + a young player and/or future 1st

Max value for Love might be at the trade deadline though. Except if he’s injured

Love for Heyward and Langford.
