Koby Altman

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Eh. There were a lot of people who said with the new players Wade had no role here. Check the Rodney Hood thread. I said this exact thing would happen in the playoffs and Wade is still a really good player when he needs to be

It was pitched as a role AND a locker room thing

I said at the time (as I got shit on with disagrees) and will continue to say.......the truth is likely somewhere in the middle.

To give Wade away, with what he showed on the court, was criminal. It was a free gift to Miami who was pushing for the playoffs. That said, I don't think it's a huge secret that Wade was really hard on Love. I also think if the Cavs could've moved Love, they would have, but that's a tough situation.

Might be fodder for another thread....but the same guy who told me to watch for Cavs and Paul George last year, told me Cavs had offers for Love that "they"(the Cavs) took off the table because they were concerned, and rightfully so, about sending Kevin to a team where his panic attacks showed up, and the Cavs had knowledge of it. I don't want to be, or sound as if I'm being unfair to Kevin, but Koby was more limited at the deadline than most even realize. The Cavs wouldn't move Kevin with his panic attacks, because if it ever came out publicly that they concealed that issue in a trade deal, the blow-back would've been next level. It took a trade chip off the table....

In an parallel universe Green was the malcontent who got traded for a 2nd round pick while Wade is throwing lobs to LeBron against the Pacers. Crazy thing is Wade played way better with the Cavs (45.5 FG%) then he has with the Heat (40.9 FG%) this season and is accustomed to playing Bron ball. We don't have the full story for a reason and that reason wears #23. They're not going to embarrass Wade while trying to keep LeBron (Bulls sources were practically singing about the locker room issues Wade created during their losing slumps). The fact that Riley and Wade made amends that quickly after their ugly split two seasons ago was pretty surprising.

We don't know what the details are (Love seems to be one of them) but the "Wade was checking out Heat scores" was a pretty cute story. A productive player like Wade doesn't get shipped so young guys can get playing time on a contending team that is led by the best player in the world who also happens to be one of his best friends. Pinning this one game Wade had on Koby seems like an overreaction when we don't have the full story. If the true story is that the team chose Love over IT/Wade/Crowder then I don't think anybody complains. We should be frustrated at Hood for being so terribly inconsistent and soft.

Wade should of been man enough to act like a future HOF within the locker room. He had it made here with his BF. F Wade

ouch. I never thought of it this way. Puts a completely different spin on the trade deadline and losing Wade for nothing. I thought it was about clearing space to develop Hood, but that doesn't look like a good trade off right at the moment...

I don't want to re-litigate this from months ago, but Wade WANTED to leave. It was his decision ultimately, not Altman's. If Wade had said "Nah I want to finish the season here", Wade would still be a Cav.

Now of course you could say, "Well Altman never should have presented Wade with the opportunity to leave"...but come on. The guy signed for the minimum. It would be a shitty move to "force him" to stay when we were bringing 3 other guards back in a trade.

Wade didn't want to be here. Simply look at how happy the dude was when he was traded back to Miami. He thanked the Cavs for sending him home, he and his wife were all over social media.
Assuming you'd get the production out of him that he gave last night is a bit presumptuous, to put it mildly.
Kobe got him the hell out of here- I don't disagree with that decision at all. At the very least, it should buy an iota of good will with the players- CLE will do what's best for you if the situation allows.

Does ANYONE who reads this feel good with Koby going in to the draft and off season? If so, tell me why you think Koby will do a great job.

Yes, I feel fine about it. I think he did a good job given the constraints under which he was operating, the biggest of which was the coach he inherited.

Buying good ingredients doesn't help if the chef can't cook.

I mean what you said general works if the ingredients the chef received were top shelf . Unfortunately, other chefs attempted to use the same ingredients and failed as well. I’m guessing these ingredients are knock-offs. Please tell me about these constraint he was operating under . He did not need to trade Kyrie. He could of held out for a better deal , even if Kyrie went in the strike , the PG we received was damaged goods. To make matters worse he dealt with our biggest rival in the East.
