Re: Kyrie Irving Part 2 (Waiting on MRI Results)

Whew, well that's great news if its not season ending. Doesn't sound too serious. Hopefully surgery is not needed though. Time is not my problem, just this kid's health. Our season is finished anyway.

Re: Kyrie Irving Part 2 (Waiting on MRI Results)

Yea but that's not my point. Lot of talk about trading this guy or that guy to then get guys that "fit" with Kyrie. I'm just not sure if that's a bright idea at this point. TO make trade to get guys because they might "fit" with a guy who can't stay healthy...

I get the frustration, but what else are you going to do? Trade Kyrie - the only potential franchise player on the roster?

- Concussion (Missed three games)
- Sprained right shoulder (I think we all agreed at the time that he was held out longer than he needed to be to ensure the tank...he played the rest of the game)
- Broken hand (Completely his fault when he hit the padded wall...he didn't miss any games)
- Broken index finger (Missed three weeks)
- Broken jaw (Played through it)
- Hyper-extended knee (Missed three games)
- Sprained left shoulder (Missed three weeks)

For the most part, minor injuries, many of the which the Cavaliers were extra precautious with. I get the concern, I really do. But until he has an injury that causes long-term concern (which, hopefully, this will not be) I am still building around the guy.

It's also important to remember that Kyrie is only 21 his body isn't fully developed yet.

I'm not saying he'll develop into a tank like LeBron, but he'll develop more of a man's body over the next few years.

Re: Kyrie Irving Part 2 (Waiting on MRI Results)

^^ some of those we sat him to help the tank.

Re: Kyrie Irving Part 2 (Waiting on MRI Results)

You managed to leave out the injury at Duke, the most serious of the bunch.

You are correct I did forget that one. He definitely struggled when he returned from that one.

Sure, if you believe a doctor in San Diego who has no direct connection to the Cavs, hasn't seen the MRI, and may have no idea when the announcement is coming.

Hopefully he's right.

Maybe I'm blind, but his body looks nearly identical. Although pictures, at least those two, don't do much justice. LB at 21 is more ripped than Kyrie will ever be. LeBron came into the league built as a man, when so many come into the league built like a boy.

Re: Kyrie Irving Part 2 (Waiting on MRI Results)

He's probably right that it's not too serious. If it was a serious ligament injury (like a torn ACL) that would have been diagnosed in the locker room and he wouldn't have returned. If it was a serious cartilage injury like the buckethandle tear Rose had he probably would have been in a lot more pain when he came back and tried to play in the 4th quarter. Nothing's certain yet, of course, but there's good reason to be optimistic for now.

Who is this guy?

This is what's on his Twitter page:

Former NFL head team physician with 17 yrs of sideline experience. Orthopedic Surgeon. Real time inside look at injuries/medical issues.

He's an MD, said he was in Cleveland clinic. I don't if the Cavs are important enough for random people to lie about that kind of stuff. So I guess that's why I'll take him at his word. :chuckles:

Re: Kyrie Irving Part 2 (Waiting on MRI Results)

LeBron has suffered no major injuries that interfered with his development. Kyrie will always have injury problems due to his frame and physique.

Re: Kyrie Irving Part 2 (Waiting on MRI Results)

Never mind, I misread. Hey, its New Years, barely awake. He just said he "saw the injury" whatever that means. Yeah, MD or not, sounds like he's just trying to make himself sound important.

Re: Kyrie Irving Part 2 (Waiting on MRI Results)

Don't look too much into this Doctor's opinion. He's judging it solely off watching the play.

I won't worry until an official report is released.
