Keys to the Game
PLAY DEFENSE
Our offensive game is fine. If we stop trading shots and actually make the other team shoot at a low percentage, the Cavs will have a shot.

Overview : It's quite obvious that the Cavaliers are a below average defending team. This will be a hard task tonight. Defending the perimter of course, Michael Redd draining threes, TJ Ford driving the lane. Those are the two things that the Cavaliers must focus on.

Road game + Shooting team = Cavaliers loss.

That is what I am expecting. Hopefully I am wrong and the Cavaliers impress all of us with a decent defensive effort and come up with a big road win.

Re: Cavaliers @ Bucks

Expect to see a lot of what you saw last night:

TJ and Magloire working the two man game. Take Z out of the paint. Run Magliore or TJ in the middle bringing in Gooden and Hughes (or Bron) leaving Redd and others open for wide open shots all game.

I hope Im wrong but I expect a big loss tonight. 12+.

Re: Cavaliers @ Bucks

The most anticipated matchup of the season. I've decided NOT to go to the game tonight so that I'd have the opportunity to participate in my FIRST RCF game thread.....woo hoo!!!

Keys for the Cavs:

1. Back off of Ford and make him shoot from the perimeter. He will get into the lane anyway but if his man is still in front of him, there will be no need for the interior defenders to come off of their men for easy dunks and layups.

2. Send a double at Redd and keep him in traffic. Hughes and James are pesky enough to force Redd into a couple of turnovers since he's more likely to pound the dribble without pick and pop pal Joe Smith in the lineup.

3. Play the top 7 players big minutes. If Jackson, Henderson, and Wilks see anything over 10 minutes each, the Cavs will be in big trouble. No way that these guys can keep pace with Mo Williams, Kukoc, Bell, and Gadzuric.

4. Beat the Bucks on the perimeter. The Cavs must win the three point battle. If the Cavs don't hold a significant edge here (+5), they'll likely be defeated.

Keys for the Bucks:

1. Bobby Simmons must play physical man to man defense on Lebron James in hopes of robbing him of some energy and forcing him to become a jump shooter late in the game.

2. Stay at home on the perimeter. James and Hughes will get into the paint. However, the Bucks MUST STAY AT HOME AND GAURD THE 3 POINT ARC. If the Bucks allow Damon Jones and Donyell Marshall to shoot uncontested 3's, then they deserve to lose the game.

3. TJ Ford, Mo Williams, and Charlie Bell should press Eric Snow and Damon Jones for 94 feet on every possession. Jones is a below average ball handler and Snow is one of the leagues more pedestrian point men.

4. Contain Z. Lebron will get his but Ilgauskas cannot be allowed to rain 18 footers all game. Take away Z on the pick and roll. Do not chase Snow...go to Ilgauskas.

It will be imperative for the Bucks, who don't play well when rested, to jump on the Cavaliers early and make them long for home. Coming off of a big loss on national tv and on the second half of a back to back, the Cavaliers may have some tired legs. If TJ Ford breaks out of his slump, this game could be over fast. If the Bucks don't establish a healthy lead going into the final period, the Cavaliers may be able to steal a victory behind the indominable Lebron James.

The Bucks will be motivated. Particularly Michael Redd. Redd will be looking to prove to Cleveland what they're really missing....another clutch, fourth quarter go to guy.

My Prediction:

Bucks 110
Cavaliers 103

James: 27, 5, 5
Hughes: 14, 4, 3
Ilgauskas: 13, 6
Gooden: 12, 9
Marshall: 9, 5

Redd: 32, 4, 2
Williams: 17, 6a
Ford: 16, 10a
Magliore: 10, 12
Simmons: 12, 7

Re: Cavaliers @ Bucks

I would be very surprised if we win this one:
1) Road game
2) Second end of a back to back
3) We defend the 3-pointer about as good as I would defend Shaq in the post and the Bucks have Redd and Mo Williams bombing away
4) It scare me to see our PG's trying to defend TJ ford

We can win if Z steps it up and starts giving the ball up instead of being a complete chucker and Hughes actually becomes consistent

Re: Cavaliers @ Bucks

This is a great test for both teams. They have identical records and are pretty evenly matched so far this season. Neither are 'contenders' right now, but that is the goal for both.

I will be watchin the play of Hughes and Redd, who will likely be guarding each other. Can Hughes show Cavalier fans he was the right choice, or will the stroke of Redd make us wish he signed with Cleveland?

This should be a competitive game if the Cavs come with it. If they start off slow and get frustrated lose focus and bitch to the refs too much, we are in trouble. If we come out strong with energy and confidence and give good defensive effort, we can slay the Bucks. Cavaliers need a sustained effort/killer instinct for 48 and not get down when things dont go their way to win this one.

TJsDa1, may the best team win!!!

Only thing I know about the Bucks is. ------> TJ is not DA 1

"BROTH MO" is the man though...

Re: Cavaliers @ Bucks

There are two things that tear up the Cavs defense: great ball movement and an ultra-quick point guard. TJ fits the description of a sore point, but he has had turnover issues the past month. If we keep Larry Hughes on him, I think we have a chance. Ball movement has been an issue for the Bucks, but Bogut has been feeling more comfortable passing the ball as of late... this could spell trouble. Bogut and Magliore are not a very quick frontcourt, so look for more Gadzuric than usual.

The Bucks play their best when TJ, Williams, Redd, and Simmons are on the floor together. I doubt they can play this lineup if the Cavs play LBJ at swingman. When Lebron leaves the game, look for the Bucks to play smallball.

Re: Cavaliers @ Bucks

Yeah, baby, everyone saw that nasty pass from Z.
