Re: Cleveland @ Memphis

*Game Notes*
Grizzlies head coach Mike Fratello coached the Cavaliers from 1993 to 1998 recording an overall record of 248-212 (.539), second best in Cavs history behind Lenny
Wilkens (.551)…Cavaliers’ forward Drew Gooden began his career in Memphis. Gooden was selected by the Grizzlies in the first round (fourth pick overall) of the
2002 NBA Draft. Memphis traded Gooden later in the season to the Orlando Magic. The Cavaliers attained Gooden, with center Steven Hunter and the draft rights to
forward Anderson Varejao, in a trade for Tony Battie and two future second-round draft choices…The Cavaliers won both contests against Memphis last
year…Assistant Coach Eric Musselman graduated from Brecksville High School as well as attending San Diego University, the some college at Cavalier head coach
Mike Brown.

*Last Meeting*
Drew Gooden recorded his second consecutive double-double with 27 points and 11 rebounds against the team that drafted him and LeBron James survived a minor scare in
helping the Cavaliers defeat Memphis 114-111. James sprained his left ankle with 9:23 remaining in the game but returned five minutes later to assist the Cavaliers in holding off
the Grizzlies. James finished with a career-high 15 dimes while adding 27 points and nine rebounds. Both teams shot the ball extremely well in a game that had 10 ties and 14 lead
changes. The Cavaliers finally pulled away for good toward the end of the third, going on a 10-0 run to break an 83-83 tie. Zydrunas Ilgauskas added 22 points, nine rebounds and
five blocks for the Cavaliers. The Grizzlies were led by Mike Miller’s season-high 28 points.

Re: Cleveland @ Memphis

Awesome preview ben. Again its up to drew to try to contain the Griz's main scoring option gasol. If we can keep him under control lets hope we can pull out a win

Re: Cleveland @ Memphis

the cavs should pull this off

cavs 104 memphis 99 :king:

Re: Cleveland @ Memphis

Memphis to me equals poor mans San Antonio.
They have a tall multi dimensional four man who can hurt you big timein Gasol. Lorenzon gives them another 7 footer to make life difficult inside.
Jackson will attack not unlike Parker.
Battier will hound LeBron and will just stick open jumpers.
Jones will hurt us on the perimeter if we defend like did last night.

Memphis however are mentally nowhere near the Spurs. If we can be patient, we can force errors. They are vulnerable behind Gasol and wright if foul trouble occurs. Larry and LeBron are up against good defenders like they were with Manu and Bowen. Hopefully there jumpers will stick.

I'm expecting a loss, but by single figures.

Re: Cleveland @ Memphis

Memphis is another power starting 5. They got good players at every spot, and Gasol will create matchup problems, I Don't know if we'll see Z on him. Their bench is also very good, but its not rediculously good like the Spurs. I mean the Spurs had Nick Van Exel playing in garbage time.

This one is very winnable. Memphis isn't as lights out as San Antonio, who shot a rediculous percentage yesterday despite some decent D. (on some plays).

Cleveland has shown it can compete with anyone after last night, but they have to keep that kind of effort up for 48 minutes.

Re: Cleveland @ Memphis

Mike Miller is one of those players listed on the Cavalier killers. He shoots the ball well, and gets to the paint at ease vs us. With Marshall injured, we ar thin up front. Hopefully Jones will find his touch as we are lacking an offensive punch behind the starting five.

Re: Cleveland @ Memphis

I am scared. I am scared that our guys will be too tired and not able to do defense. After all, you need energy to do deffense.

Re: Cleveland @ Memphis

One good thing Ruanu is that Memphis also played last night, and will be travelling from Orlando. Unfortunately there is no place like home, which tips the scales toward the Grizzlies. Fortunately Memphis won last night, which can at times take away from the desire to back up, with the intensity usually dropping off.

Re: Cleveland @ Memphis

my worries are gasol of course but we cant let eddie jones eat up or mike miller and we will be in some deal trouble.dont forget about bobby jackson either, they got a nice squad over there.

Re: Cleveland @ Memphis

Did anyone see Battier get cracked in his head last night? Blood gushing all over immediately his head was covered and it was all over the floor 6 stitches....anyone think he may sit this one out cuz when I saw it I was like WOW I've never seen that much blood on an nba floor....

Re: Cleveland @ Memphis

Here is the thing.. When we all did the 1st month predictions, for the most part we all stated the cavs will start off 1 win 2 losses..

But I feel actually a bit more confident about this game then I did a week ago when I was predicting..

I know we lossed big last night, but that might be a blessing in disguise for this team.. I think the effort on both ends will be sharper tonight.. This will be due to probably two factors:

#1 THEM NOT BEING SAN ANTONIO

#2 OUR EFFORT

The Cavs went into Memphis and won last season, and I believe they can and will again..

The key is going at Gasol.. Whether it's Drew or Z they have to attack him, he is too soft not too..

Friggin' Ilgauskas needs to wake his ass up already.. I'm already tired of the falling Circus shot, and the 17-18 foot jumpers at the elbow of the free throw line.. Let see some post moves, and DAMNIT  finish at the damn basket..

Larry needs to take it at E-JONES... If Snow is going to give the "FAT 0" in the PTS area.. LH needs to assert himself more...

Can we stop DAMON STOUDY'S penetration ? How about we do that K-THANKS.

Re: Cleveland @ Memphis

Expect to see much more Dahntay Jones if Battier isn't cleared to play yet. If that is the case, LBJ should have an easier go of it. Damon Jones and Sasha Pavlovic need to step up in the absence of Marshall. Once upon a time, Gasol played some center and gave Z a tough time by getting the ball on the wing on clear-outs... we should be watching for how well Mike Brown gameplans the defense.

Re: Cleveland @ Memphis

So Marshall is for sure out? Anyone know how long?

Re: Cleveland @ Memphis

our offense seems to flow better when marshall is in the game :(
