Larry Sanders

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Sounds like getting him is a pipe dream. I can't see a guy coming back for that, given what Gour said. If I were him I'd be looking to get paid.

Much rather have him than Birdman, but the Birdman is probably the best we can do realistically though.

Sucks, he'd be a perfect fit if he wouldn't go crazy on us.

I think we can get him, but... it's likely for only 1 year. After that, he'd need to take a paycut to stay with us.

I think he wants to win. I feel like he could take a 1 year deal here for cheap then get paid by someone else in the offseason.

Come on down, Larry! You know playing for us would be more fun than playing with the Warriors!:celb (14):

Guys like this are always a risk and usually the reward doesn't validate the risk.

I don't care for the tweets... Pretty sure if he's talking between GS and Cle (?) each franchise has somehow manage to win a ring without the services of one Larry Sanders...

If we can get Sanders here, I'd to take the chance for 1 year like we did with JR.

He may pair very well with Love.

He also showed he wouldn't play ball for the money. If he had a team that supported him, accepted him and had fun winning , I could see him resigning with us for the mmle next season if it worked out.

We're not talking to Sanders though, his tweets are just him wishing we were. The guy left basketball and apparently had no interest in it anymore, who's to say much has really changed? All of a sudden he just wants to come back and play for one of the two title contenders? Seems like a total waste of time.

If LeBron wants him? He'll get him.

But right now we don't know what LeBron wants.

I dunno, I think he'd look good defending Durant.

Now, in the summer of 2016, Sanders' mindset hasn't really changed, but he's ready to begin to try and balance playing basketball with everything else that he's interested in, which includes making music, painting, and just having a peace of mind. "There are parts of the game that really turned me away," Sanders explained to Complex by phone. "But there are always parts of the game that I will always love and that's why I still play the game now. A situation where an understanding team allowed me to invest in my other passions in life, now I'm bringing all of that with me and I feel there may be a home for that."

Outside of basketball, Sanders has already started up his own company and spent plenty of time in studios working on new music for himself and with other artists. "I think now I can explore the thought of dedicating my time and effort to a team with all of my other things in the works," Sanders said. With all of his other passions— a clothing line, music, and directing—taking off over the past year, Sanders now believes he can balance it all with a return to the NBA. Part of the reason Sanders walked away in the first place was because he was worried he would have to wait to pursue his other interests when he was much older.

That fear may have paid off in the long run for Sanders, as he now has his other ventures in order and can balance that with a revived career in the NBA. "I feel like I'm moving toward that space," Sanders conveyed. Even with the indication that Sanders is heavily leaning toward a return to the NBA this season, he did warn that it's not a 100 percent lock that he plays in 2016. "If I can be more balanced outside of basketball, I think I can be an even better player, honestly."

"I want to be in the right place mentally, and they deserve that," Sanders said. "The team and the fans deserve that and it will be a situation where I feel completely safe, the team feels completely safe and we're ready to rock 'n' roll. I'm not going to go to a situation with one foot in and one out. It would be a fully committed thing with no pressure." As far as his motivations to play professional basketball again, Sanders said that it has nothing to do with money, but rather, with the quest to win a championship.

I'd rather stay away to be honest. He'll be here for 1 year maximum whether his stay here is successful or terrible, he's unstable mentally, has been suspended twice for drugs, hasn't played an NBA game in 19 months, etc. Only way I see him being a contributor here is if another big gets hurt.

If we get him, great, I guess. If not, I won't be upset...unless he goes to the Warriors.

After reading that post above I could care less if he joined the Warriors now. His head is still not in the game.

I believe he wants to play professional basketball again to pay for his other passions, hobbies, and aspirations.

And it sounds very wrong for me to look at that as a negative, because most people use money from their job to fuel a hobby of theirs. However, you also gotta look at it in the perspective of professional athletes. The best have God-given talent but they also have another trait in common: hunger, drive, work ethic, competitiveness, etc. I don't think Larry Sanders has the second part of this and with all his baggage I don't think he's cut out for a championship caliber team with LeBron James; there is no half-assing it on a LeBron team.

Or maybe someone like LeBron is exactly what he needs to kick start his career. Who knows?

Get paid where? A vet minimum offer is all he's getting from anyone. That's it.

Yeah. He will only get a huge deal once he shows he is stable and back to playing at a high level. Won't be this summer.
