LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Does the success of Kevin Love help or hurt LeBron's MVP chances?

I think LeBron is helping Love get a lot of open looks. However, you could make the case Love is playing better than Klay Thompson. He's playing better than Bosh did in Miami. Hell you could make the case Love is our 2nd best player.

Just wondering if that will take away from LeBron because of "too much help"

No way. It's the opposite in the main steam mind. Lebron makes Love better in their opinion. And the better love does the better it makes Lebron look.

We also have to remember that post-all star break LeBron will turn it up on both offense and defense. You can see individual plays or sequences where LeBron pretty much gives the signal to play hard D and the Cavs look like they did in the playoffs last year. It's just that this happens on a dozen or so possessions this early instead of all the time. Also, his rebounding numbers go up when he vacates chill mode. Assists are easy for him, but rebounds require a bit more effort and willingness to take contact.

It is very possible LeBron averages 23-10-9 this year on the team with the most wins in the NBA.

He's currently at 36.5% on 3s. If this continues along with the new super Love we won't even be challenged in the playoffs.

I'm really enjoying this slow evolution into Magic Johnson. With the multitude of shooters and how much scoring talent we have in Kevin and Kyrie, it's probably for the best.

It is such a treat to watch this guy all the time.

From @LeShaq 's Windy write-up:

* What scouts are telling me now is that, in the playoffs, you may just be better trying to let LeBron go one-on-one on offense.
* The idea being you don't want to leave their shooters to help out in guarding LeBron.
* LeBron wants to pass, so this might make things tougher for him (if he just has to score all the time instead).
* LeBron senses he might be able to average 10 assists per game, and he would love to do that if he could.
* That scouts are even thinking about this strategy (LeBron gets his) tells you how well LeBron's supporting cast is playing.

There were at least 4 or 5 instances in this game in which James had a clear path to the basket but he chose to kick out to shooters. I'm sure in the playoffs those will be dunks/layups/And1s/FTs, especially against better defensive teams. Right now, he's doing whatever the hell he wants and the offense is running at an ORating of 121 when he's on court. The best offense ever ('87 Lakers) ran at 115.6 ORating for perspective.

He had 13 assists even though the team went 7 of 21 on wide open threes (JR/Jeff/MikeD missed all of their wide open looks) and 3 of 12 on open ones. James could have easily had 4 or 5 more assists.

He takes what the defense gives him

If i was defending the king I would dare him to score 60 every night guard the other guys

That's what Pop, Kerr, will do, and the King still needs a 40+ PPG finals to top it off for the Jordan homers .

You come at the King you best not miss

He was supposed to outscore the sixers in the first and his teammates were waiting for him to do that. He failed

Does anyone know if he's going to be taking a rest on Tuesday in Milwaukee? I bought lower level seats last week and would be pretty devastated if he's out. I ask for a few reasons. They've played every other day for about a week now, they play back to back Thursday/Friday against LAC and CHI (two I'd expect he'd want to play against his best friends), and he logged 42 minutes today in a game that I'm sure he was hoping to sit the 4th quarter. Does anyone know when Lue or LeBron might announce if he's sitting?

No. He is not sitting aside from injuries or back to backs. You can rest easy.

So, we're basically 1/5th of the way through the regular season. Is LeBron MVP?

Westbrook is .1 rpg from averaging a 30 point triple double, but his team is 10-8. Harden is pretty close to averaging a 30 point TD as well, his team is 11-6.

Clippers are slipping theses past couple games it looks like.

Kawhi is scoring but doesn't have the assists or rebounds of LeBron.

It has to be him at this point, right? Not really sure who is second, I guess Harden maybe, but I don't see the Rockets finishing well enough for him to get it.

If Westbrook averages a 30 point triple double, I mean that is just insane. Even if they have a much worse record. Record has always held the most value, so it would probably be unprecedented if they gave it to someone with a bad record. This could be the year for it if there weren't any other strong statistical candidates, but if LeBron is averaging close to a 25 point triple double with a far superior record, I don't see how he doesn't get it.

Westbrook is just using up an ungodly number of possessions and he's isn't particularly efficient at it. Usage Rate at 41%! If he keeps that up that will be the only time ever in league history that has had a usage rate higher then 40%.

He hasn't been efficient either (and yes I know it's hard to be efficient when your using up that many plays) but he's only shooting less then 43% from the field and his TS% is way lower then Lebron's or Harden's. He's got 60 more missed FGs then anybody else and leads the league in turnovers (He's missed 242 shots this year, the next closest guy is DeRozan with only a 185). Seems like an awfully selfish season more then a great MVP season IMO

I sort of suspect that if anyone on a playoff team averages a triple double for the season they will get it -- it's something that hasn't been done in 50 years. Don't see Lebron averaging a full triple double, it would be silly to exert himself so much in the regular season just to get the rebounds.

But if Harden/Westbrook don't average a TD I think Lebron is in the lead. He is just having such a masterful season.
