You can't envision a lineup that looks something like LBJ-Korver-JR-Crowder-Green? Everyone 6'6" - 6'9"?
I'm not saying he's going to be out there guarding true centers or anything like that, but I can see some lineups where LeBron and Green are the 4/5 defensively. Obviously Love makes more sense than Green in that lineup, but it's possible we experiment with a lineup like that.
He has never been a rim protector or a good defender ,whether be inside the paint or on the perimeter so I fail to see the positives in such lineup.
I don't have a problem with going small, but when you do that you have to either put atleast an above average defender at the last line of defense, or compensate by having an elite 3pt shooter at the 5 and he is neither of those things.
I love Lebron at PG. But if you want to really take advantage of it, you have to make sure the other team doesn't come off easily and put their PG on our SG/SF.
If we go big at PG, we need to also go big at at the SG/SF spots, not only that but we need them to take advantage and create against the mismatch.
Imagine a lineup with Lebron at the 1, PG13 at the 2 and Melo(yes Melo) at the 3... you just force the other team to take their PG out of the fucking game.. each and every one of these playerrs will take advantage of the mismatch either in the post or other way.
I was pretty much against bringing in Melo for the price that was expected, but if we can get him for really cheap and not give up Osman, then it's a no brainer.
a lineup of Lebron, Wade, Melo, Crowder, Love should be a killer. You have two ball handlers, 4 capable post players, good spacing and a lineup that can take advantage of GSW's defense and even perhaps be decent enough on defense.
Don't get me wrong, this lineup can fall flat on it's face against the Warriors.. we have no quickness on the perimeter, lineup is fairly past it's prime and not overly athletic, but it could also be pretty special.
